New Zealand completed a 17-run victory over Pakistan to secure a 1-1 draw in the two-match Twenty20 international series in Dubai.
Just like they did in the recent Tests, the Black Caps won the final match of the rubber to claim a share of the spoils.
Impressive bowling from Anton Devcich, Kyle Mills and Jimmy Neesham, the latter leading the way with 3-25, dismissed the designated hosts for 127 in the penultimate over.
Kane Williamson top-scored with 32 from the top of the order and Luke Ronchi made a rapid 31 as New Zealand posted 144 for eight after losing the toss.
Williamson and Devcich made an impressive start, adding 49 in seven overs before the latter was bowled by Mohammad Hafeez for 21.
Shahid Afridi struck twice, removing Dean Brownlie and then skipper Williamson, to leave the Black Caps 58 for three in the 10th over.
Raza Hasan accounted for Ross Taylor cheaply but Tom Latham and Ronchi combined in a fifth-wicket stand of 38 in just 23 deliveries.
However, the pair departed in successive overs when Latham became one of two victims for the fit-again Umar Gul and Ronchi’s 19-ball knock, which included a four and two sixes, was ended by Sohail Tanvir.
Devcich opened the bowling for the first time and took two of three Pakistan wickets to fall in the opening five overs, including trapping yesterday’s hero Sarfraz Ahmed lbw fourth ball.
Neesham then struck either side of Daniel Vettori, playing his first T20 international since 2012, bowling the returning Ahmed Shehzad for 33 to leave Pakistan in further trouble.
But with 47 required from the final four overs and Afridi still at the crease, Pakistan still had a sniff.
Their chances of victory evaporated when the skipper became a third scalp for Neesham, the ball after hitting his third six.
Mills then wrapped up the innings by taking two wickets in three deliveries to complete figures of 3-26.
