Niall O’Brien and Angus Robson were both rewarded for impressive seasons at Leicestershire’s player of the year awards.
Irishman O’Brien was crowned cricketer of the year and won the club’s best individual performance in a first XI match after hitting a six to complete a century and victory for the Foxes in the Royal London One-Day Cup clash with Hampshire.
The wicketkeeper-batsman made 971 runs, including five fifties and a brace of centuries, in what was another winless season for Leicestershire in LV= County Championship Division Two.
Robson, brother of England and Middlesex opening batsman Sam, took home three awards.
The 22-year-old, the only Leicestershire batsman to pass 1,000 championship runs this term, was voted players’ player of the year, most improved uncapped player and won the outstanding fielding performance in the first XI.
Batsman Greg Smith and veteran seamer Charlie Shreck were also recognised for their performances, winning the best batsman and bowling awards respectively.
