LV= County Champions Yorkshire are well represented in the 2014 PCA player and young player of the year nominations.

Adam Lyth and Jack Brooks are named on the shortlist for player of the year, alongside Warwickshire spinner Jeetan Patel and Kent all-rounder Darren Stevens, and Alex Lees is among the young player of the year nominations.

Lees is joined on the list by last year’s winner Ben Stokes, of Durham and England, as well as Kent wicketkeeper-batsman Sam Billings and Somerset all-rounder Lewis Gregory.

The winners will be announced on Wednesday evening at the PCA Awards at Old Billingsgate in London.

Lyth, Lees and Brooks were all integral members of Yorkshire’s side that won LV= County Championship Division One for the first time since 2001.

Batsmen Lyth and Lees formed a formidable opening partnership, registering 1,489 and 971 runs respectively, while new-ball bowler Brooks led the way with 68 wickets.

New Zealander Patel claimed 107 victims as Birmingham Bears won the NatWest T20 Blast on home soil and Warwickshire finished runners-up in the championship and Royal London One-Day Cup.

Stevens struck 1,342 runs and snared 81 scalps across all three formats and is joined among the nominations by team-mate Billings, who is up for young player of the year.

Adam Lyth, Alex Lees and Jack Brooks all played major roles in Yorkshire ending a 13-year wait for the LV= County Championship title

The 23-year-old, recently included in the England Performance Programme for the winter trip to Sri Lanka, produced a string of impressive performances, most notably in the Royal London Cup as he hit 458 runs at an average of 114.50 to help the Spitfires to the semi-finals.

Stokes is again recognised for his all-round talent, playing a vital role in leading Durham to Royal London Cup glory. The 23-year-old blasted 164 off just 113 balls in the last four against Notts Outlaws before adding an unbeaten 38 to his 2-25 as his side beat Warwickshire at Lord’s.

Gregory has had a breakthrough season at Taunton. The all-rounder started the campaign in fine form and took 43 wickets in nine championship matches, while also excelling in the Royal London Cup.

Gregory led the club's wicket-taking charts with 14 victims and scored over 200 runs at a strike-rate of well over 100.
