Middlesex have suffered a major blow with the news that Dawid Malan is set for a spell of at least four weeks on the sidelines with a hand injury.
The 27-year-old underwent surgery last night to have internal fixation of his fifth metacarpal of his left hand, a problem he sustained while fielding on the opening day of the LV= County Championship Division One clash with Nottinghamshire at Lord’s on Sunday.
After successful surgery, Malan will be required to keep his arm in a cast for the next three days before having a removable splint for up to a month.
