Gloucestershire retained the England Cricket Association for the Deaf (ECAD) indoor title after beating Surrey by 47 runs in an exciting final.

After a flawless run through the competition, Gloucester once again beat Surrey in what was a repeat of the 2012 final.

George Greenway, Michael Weathersby and Jamie Sorby, who was named as player of the tournament, saw them over the line after Surrey had earlier set a competitive total of 113.

It marked a perfect end to the tournament for Gloucestershire in front of a packed arena at The Willows Sports Centre in Derby.

The Gloucestershire Deaf side retained their indoor title having beaten Surrey by 47 runs in a rematch of the 2012 final

They had earlier beaten Lancashire by 45 runs, Surrey by 19 runs before overcoming ECAD Lions by 47 runs, with their eventual final opponents securing a spot by also beating the other two sides.

The event showcased the recent growth of deaf cricket, with 16 players under the age of 25 taking part, and the number of players participating in the game believed to have grown by 70%.

The next event for ECAD is a Possibles v Potentials trial match for the ECAD Lions team on Bank Holiday Monday May 4 at Horley Cricket Club near Banbury, Oxfordshire.
