England Learning Disability attended an opening ceremony at the Melbourne Cricket Ground on the eve of their series with Australia.

England are set to play two Twenty20 games and four 40-over matches versus their hosts, starting tomorrow, at venues in and around Melbourne.

Today coach Derek Morgan and his charges enjoyed visiting the city’s most famous cricket ground, which will host the World Cup final on Sunday week.

Morgan said: “It was a fabulous experience to attend the opening ceremony at the MCG long room.

“Any opportunity to access facilities like the long room is an absolute privilege for any team. I know the team were in honoured to be there. It was an amazing experience.”

The tourists have been Down Under for a week and are ready to defend the crown they won four years ago.

“We have had a really great week of preparation,” Morgan added. “The guys have adapted really well to our preparations out here in Australia.

“We have had a very meaningful practice fixture in Benalla on Sunday and the guys demonstrated a real appetite to keep playing.

“The squad are looking forward to starting the tournament tomorrow against Australia, which as we know is always a tough contest playing Australia in Australia.”

Dan Bowser, Robert Hewitt, Ronnie Jackson, Alexander Jervis will make their England debuts tomorrow in a team led by Christopher Edwards.
