England Learning Disability start their series with Australia tomorrow, and opening batsman Jonathan Gale wants to have many fond memories when he returns from Down Under.
In 2011, the last occasions the teams met, Surrey’s Gale helped England win a series against Australia for the first time.
This contest begins with two Twenty20 games, tomorrow and on Wednesday, followed by four 40-over-a-side matches. All six fixtures are being played at grounds in and around Melbourne.
“Nothing can describe how special it is to me to have a Lion on my chest,” Gale told ecb.co.uk.
“I can’t wait to tell everybody about the tour when I get back and some of the experiences I’ve had as well with it.”
The 20-year-old has switched his focus from fast bowling to batting for England, and he has set high personal and team goals for the series.
He said he wants to score “lots of runs, which is obviously my key target, but otherwise elsewhere to do just as much as I can really with the team and hopefully retain the trophy.”
