Nottinghamshire all-rounder Samit Patel has signed a three-year contract extension to keep him at the club until the end of the 2018 season.
The fast-scoring batsman and left-arm spinner, who has played five Tests and 59 games in total for England, is coming off a season in which he topped 1,000 first-class runs.
Having been with Notts since his first-class debut in 2002, Patel said: “Spending such a long time at a club the size of Notts is an honour, and I didn’t think twice about extending my contract.
“I’ve played here all my life, and this club has given me a lot, and I want to carry on giving back.
“There’s no better place to play cricket than Trent Bridge, and I want to see us carry on competing and winning trophies.”
In Patel's time at Trent Bridge, Notts won County Championship Division Two in 2004 and the top flight the following season, adding another Division One title in 2010.
He has scored over 8,500 first-class runs and Nottinghamshire director of cricket Mick Newell said: “Samit’s stats in the County Championship have been very good for a number of years, and he’s a key and useful member of our team.
“He’s highly motivated to perform for Notts, and as a local lad he’s a great fit for us. This deal will see him through into his thirties and hopefully some of his best cricket is yet to come.”
