Sri Lanka have called up Seekkuge Prasanna to replace the injured Dimuth Karunaratne in their World Cup squad.
Karunaratne suffered a fractured finger in training, ending his tournament after just two innings. He made 14 against New Zealand, when he also spectacularly caught Kane Williamson, and 23 versus Afghanistan but was not required to bat in wins over Bangladesh and England.
An International Cricket Council media release read: "The ICC has confirmed that the Event Technical Committee of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 has approved Seekkuge Prasanna as a replacement player for Dimuth Karunaratne in Sri Lanka’s squad for the tournament.
"Any injury or illness-based replacement requires a written submission to the Event Technical Committee along with a diagnosis from a medical practitioner as to the extent of the injury or illness. Once replaced, a player may not return to the squad save as an approved subsequent replacement for another injured or ill player."
Spinner Prasanna has taken 21 wickets at 42.85 in 22 one-day internationals.
The Event Technical Committee consists of ICC general managers Geoff Allardice and Campbell Jamieson, Local Organising Committee chief executive John Harnden, New Zealand Cricket operations manager Gavin Larsen and former international players Russel Arnold and Sanjay Manjrekar.
