Max Holden will lead a strong Middlesex representation when the England Development Programme play the first match of a trip to the United Arab Emirates in Dubai on Saturday.
Holden, an all-rounder from Cambridge, will captain a team which could include his Middlesex team-mates Martin Andersson, Arthur Godsal, and Andrew Thomas in a one-day international game against a United Arab Emirates XI.
The EDP team are mostly under-17s, but Andersson is one of three over-age players who have been included under an agreement with Pakistan ahead of three one-day games and one three-day “Test” between the teams, which will also be played in Dubai over the next fortnight.
The other under-18s are Tom Moores, the wicketkeeping son of the England coach Peter and who joined Nottinghamshire from Leicestershire last autumn, and Sam Underdown, a left-handed batsman from Somerset.
Holden and Moores are already members of the full EDP training squad, as is Surrey’s Sam Curran, the 16-year-old son of the former Gloucestershire, Northamptonshire, and Zimbabwe all-rounder Kevin.
