Ireland bowler Tim Murtagh has been ruled out of the Tri-Series with Afghanistan and Scotland in Dubai.
The Middlesex opening bowler, who was named in Ireland’s World Cup squad earlier this week, suffered a foot injury while training in Dubai.
He has returned to London to undergo further assessments on the injury, but has been ruled out of the rest of the tournament, which is being used as a warm-up for the World Cup and got under way today as Afghanistan recorded an eight-wicket win over Scotland.
Ireland, who face Afghanistan on Saturday in their first game of the Tri-Series, have opted not to call up a replacement for Murtagh.
