Hamilton Masakadza has finally been given a chance to play in a World Cup after he was named in Zimbabwe’s 15-man squad.

The 31-year-old suffered the disappointment of missing the last three showpieces due to inexperience, injury and disappointing form.

But new coach Dav Whatmore has included the all-rounder, an international cricketer for 14 years, in his first party.

Whatmore's squad, skippered by Elton Chigumbura, also features Prosper Utseya, Stuart Matsikenyeri, Chamu Chibhabha and Tawanda Mupariwa.

Utseya will only be able to deliver his slow medium deliveries after the International Cricket Council banned him from bowling off-breaks.

Matsikenyeri last played for his country in the 2012 World Twenty20, Chibhabha has not featured since March 2013 and Mupariwa’s previous international appearance came in 2009.

Sean Williams has been recalled but there are no places for Vusi Sibanda and Brian Vitori.

Zimbabwe World Cup squad: Elton Chigumbura (captain), Sikandar Raza, Regis Chakabva, Tendai Chatara, Chamu Chibhabha, Craig Ervine, Tafadzwa Kamungozi, Hamilton Masakadza, Stuart Matsikenyeri, Solomon Mire, Tawanda Mupariwa, Tinashe Panyangara, Brendan Taylor, Prosper Utseya, Sean Williams.
