Crofton Alexander has been appointed as Leicestershire’s new head of strength and conditioning.
Alexander, an accredited strength and conditioning coach since 2008, has a wealth of experience in the sporting arena.
A board director for the UK Strength and Conditioning Association, he started his career with a seven-year spell at Aviva Premiership rugby union side London Wasps.
After holding a similar role at the LTA accredited High Performance Tennis Academy, he spent 15 months with Edinburgh rugby union club.
Alexander, who starts his new position at Grace Road on Monday, will work in a team that also includes head physiotherapist Rob Leather and Aileen Campbell, who is the club’s new intern in the strength and conditioning department.
He said: “I am delighted to be joining a club which has shown ambitions to be one of the top county cricket clubs. This represents a great opportunity for me to work in professional county cricket and I am very much looking forward to the challenge ahead.
“It is clear to see that everyone connected to the club wants to drive forward and are determined to bring success, so this made the decision to join the club a very easy one for me to make.”
Meanwhile, Leicestershire batsman Aadil Ali visited Rushey Mead Primary School this morning as part of the StreetChance initiative.
Leicester-born Aadil, who signed his first professional contract at Grace Road in October, joined Leicestershire and Rutland coaches Tom Leonard and Dave Allen in passing on advice to the children during the session.
He said: “It was an excellent session and it was brilliant to see so many enthusiastic children starting young. I’d like to thank Rushey Mead Primary School for allowing me to get involved in the session.”
