England and Lancashire spinner Stephen Parry has been snapped up by Brisbane Heat for the remainder of the Big Bash League.
The slow left-armer will replace Daniel Vettori, who is due to join the New Zealand squad after Thursday’s crucial clash with the Perth Scorchers at the WACA.
Parry made his one-day international and Twenty20 debuts for England last year in the West Indies, and subsequently appeared in the World T20. He has made five appearances for England to date, taking four wickets.
The Lancashire man has developed into an excellent limited-overs bowler in the domestic game, and played a key role as the Lightning advanced to the final of the NatWest T20 Blast before losing out to Birmingham Bears.
Parry will join Lancashire team-mate Andrew Flintoff at Brisbane, and will be available for the last three round-robin games of the tournament, starting with Sunday's clash against Michael Lumb and Riki Wessels' Sydney Sixers, as well as any finals appearances should the Heat qualify.
Lancashire cricket director and head coach Ashley Giles said: “This is a good move for Stephen who will gain valuable experience playing in such a high profile competition.”
Brisbane head coach Stuart Law added on the Heat’s official website: “He’s a good lad and a seasoned competitor for Lancashire.
“He’s a solid all-round cricketer so we expect him to slot in and play a similar role as the one Dan performed for us.”
