Middlesex skipper Adam Voges turned in a match-winning performance for Perth Scorchers in the Big Bash League at the Adelaide Oval.
Voges hit an unbeaten 54 from 36 deliveries to help guide the Scorchers to 133 for six, a total which proved to be 18 too many for Adelaide Strikers.
With Michael Klinger and Michael Carberry struggling for fluency early in the innings, it was left to Voges, who was recently named Middlesex captain for the 2015 season, to up the run-rate with the help of Hampshire all-rounder Yasir Arafat, who made 18 not out.
The Strikers struggled in reply, with 43-year-old Brad Hogg taking 2-11 from his four overs to frustrate the hosts.
Essex Eagles’ Ryan ten Doeschate made just four before becoming one of Hogg’s victims, before Arafat returned to mop up the tail and finish with 2-30 as the Scorchers gained ground on the table-toppers.
