Australia internationals Pat Cummins and Glenn Maxwell are the headline names in Mike Hussey’s Prime Minister’s XI to play England on January 14.

Skippered by ex-Australia batsman Hussey, Cummins and Maxwell - who have 85 international caps between them - have been included in an inexperienced side for the annual match at the Manuka Oval in Canberra.

Other notable inclusions in the team are Canberra-raised Jason Behrendorff and Lega Siaka, who struck a century in Papua New Guinea’s first-ever one-day international series in November.

The match is England’s second and final warm-up clash ahead of the Tri-Series with Australia and India, which acts as further preparation for the World Cup.

Gary Ballance and Jos Buttler struck half-centuries before Ravi Bopara returned sensational figures of 4-3 as the tourists won last year’s encounter by 172 runs.

Australia Prime Minister Tony Abbott said: “It gives me great pleasure to announce the squad to play England in this month’s Prime Minister’s XI match.

“This team is an exciting mix of emerging talent and big name players. This fixture promises to be an exciting day in what’s shaping as a memorable summer of cricket in Australia.”

Prime Minister’s XI: Mike Hussey (captain), Cameron Bancroft, Jason Behrendorff, Matt Condon, Pat Cummins, Jake Doran (wicketkeeper), Peter Handscomb, Simon Mackin, Glenn Maxwell, David Moody, Lega Siaka, Mac Wright (12th man).
