Australia’s players have been fined by the International Cricket Council for their slow over-rate during the team’s four-wicket win over India in the second Test in Brisbane.
Steve Smith, leading Australia in the absence of the injured Michael Clarke, was fined 60 per cent of his match fee after the team were found to be three overs short.
The minor over-rate offence also saw Smith’s players fined 30 per cent of their match fees.
Elsewhere, India paceman Ishant Sharma, who finished with six wickets in the match, was found guilty of breaching the ICC's code of conduct during the first innings and fined 15 per cent of his match fee.
The ICC confirmed Sharma’s offence relates to “language or a gesture that is obscene, offensive or insulting during an international match”, which came after he dismissed Smith for 133 in the 88th over of Australia’s innings.
Australia lead the four-match series 2-0, with the third Test starting on December 26 in Melbourne.
