Steven Mullaney has agreed a new deal that will keep him at Nottinghamshire until the end of the 2017 season.

The 28-year-old has been at Trent Bridge for the previous four seasons following his move from Lancashire, and he has gone on to become a key part of the squad.

After helping his new county to the LV= County Championship title in his first season, Mullaney was voted Nottinghamshire's player of the year in 2013 after graduating up the order to open the batting.

Despite a disappointing season in the championship this year, Mullaney has committed his future to Trent Bridge for the next three years.

Steven Mullaney has become an important part of a Nottinghamshire side that finished fourth in the LV= County Championship this season

Nottinghamshire director of cricket Mick Newell said: “Steven has become an important player for us and we’re pleased that he was keen to commit what we will hope will be the peak years of his career to Nottinghamshire.

“He has a big role to play in white-ball cricket and he’s determined to fight for his place in our championship team in the face of increased competition for places.”

Mullaney added: “I love this club, they gave me an opportunity in 2010 when I wasn't really going anywhere with Lancashire and I've made Trent Bridge my home.

"This is a really good team and I can see us going on to win trophies in the next few years, and I wanted to be a part of that, and a part of Nottinghamshire.”
