The England and Wales Cricket Board today announced the winners of this year’s Business of Cricket Awards which were hosted at Edgbaston last night and recognise and reward off-the-field excellence across the first-class game.
Warwickshire were the biggest winners on the night – collecting awards in three different categories after a season which saw the county achieve a 30 per cent increase in ticket sales and a record-breaking attendance for NatWest T20 Blast finals day.
MCC won the Innovation Award and the Major Match Customer Experience Award with the judges impressed by their plans to make the most of the historic Lord’s site and the way in which the club celebrated the 200th anniversary of the Home of Cricket earlier this year.
The judging panel, which consisted of industry experts from a variety of sports, also made awards in different categories to Nottinghamshire, Surrey, Lancashire and Worcestershire.
ECB's Chief Operating Officer, Gordon Hollins, said: "These awards once again demonstrate the outstanding work our first-class counties did off-the-field last season to raise the profile of our domestic game and help attract a record number of spectators to the NatWest T20 Blast competition.
“As always, our judging panel were given the unenviable task of picking the winners from an outstanding pool of nominees. We thank them for their efforts and warmly congratulate all our winners whose hard work and creativity helped make 2014 such a memorable season for all concerned.”
