Durham all-rounder Scott Borthwick warmed up for his trip to Sri Lanka by volunteering to provide a coaching session for Northern Universities Student Club (NUSC) cricketers last Saturday morning.
The 24-year-old, who is set to play first-class cricket for Sri Lankan side Chilaw Marians in the new year, freely gave up his own time to pass on his experiences to the youngsters at the Emirates Durham ICG.
Borthwick spent 60 minutes working with the NUSC’s three leg-spinners and double that time providing a batting masterclass against slow bowling.
Director of NUSC John D Holland said: “Scott was fantastic in how he engaged every player, put a smile on their face and gave them an experience they will never forget.
“We would welcome him back any time at NUSC.”
