Warwickshire all-rounder Ateeq Javid has signed a three-year contract extension to keep him at the club until the end of the 2017 season.
The 23-year-old has become a fixture in the Bears setup since graduating through the academy and signing on professional terms in 2008.
Javid played an important role in Warwickshire’s success in the NatWest T20 Blast this year, appearing in 14 games and starring in the semi-final where he took 2-13 in three overs, including the prized scalp of Kevin Pietersen.
Dougie Brown, Warwickshire director of cricket, said: “Ateeq has experience of playing in big matches and, as a 23 year-old, he has the best days of his career ahead of him.
“As a club we take great pride in seeing our promising young cricketers develop in to talented professionals who contribute to our success. Ateeq has worked incredibly hard to get where he is in the game and we’re thrilled that he remains a Bear for many years to come.”
Javid said: “Representing my home county means a huge amount to me and I would like to thank all of the fellow players, coaches and members for their support.
“What we achieved by winning the NatWest T20 Blast in 2014 was a fantastic achievement, but I’m hungry for more silverware and hopefully I will be able to contribute more for the Bears in the next three years and beyond.”
