Sussex have completed a swoop for fast bowler Tymal Mills on a two-year deal following his Essex exit.

The left-arm quick bowler had been available since it was announced earlier this month that he would be leaving Essex after turning down a new deal.

Mills, 22, is regarded as one of the quickest bowlers in county cricket and his raw potential has seen him called up for the England Lions squads regularly over the past few years before he was summoned to help the full England squad prepare for the 2013/2014 Ashes series in Australia.

However injury problems forced the Yorkshire-born quick to miss most of the 2014 season and miss out on selection for the England Performance Programme.

Tymal Mills took 77 wickets during his time at Essex since making his debut in 2011 and has been tipped as a future England international

The deal will keep Mills at The BrightonandHoveJobs.com County Ground until 2016, and he said: “I'm really pleased to be on board. As soon as Sussex came in for me, I knew it was a county that I wanted to join. I'm really glad it is all finalised.

“The injuries look to be behind me now and I'm really looking forward to moving down here, getting stuck in this winter and going strong next year.”

Sussex’s professional cricket manager Mark Robinson added: “We’re hugely excited by the arrival of Tymal. He’s a player of enormous potential who is blessed with great pace and a true fast bowler’s frame, and we can’t wait to see him bowl next season.”
