Mark Footitt’s remarkable season has been recognised with a nomination for the Professional Sportsperson of the Year at the 2014 Derbyshire Sports Awards.
The 28-year-old paceman claimed a staggering 106 wickets for Derbyshire in 2014, more than any other bowler at the club since 1965, leading to inclusion in the England Performance Programme.
He was the most prolific wicket-taker in LV= County Championship cricket, snaring 84 scalps at an average of 19, and picked up three gongs at Derbyshire’s end-of-season awards.
Standing between Footitt and a fourth award is second nominee Jake Buxton, who helped Derby County to the Sky Bet Championship play-off final at Wembley earlier this year.
The winner will be announced on November 6.
