Chris Rogers admits he looks back on doing a personal double-double this season with immense pride after helping Middlesex stay in LV= County Championship Division One.

Rogers compiled two key double-hundreds – both unbeaten – for his county, the first against eventual champions Yorkshire and then versus Somerset.

Middlesex won the game with Yorkshireby seven wickets back in April, remarkably chasing 472 to do so, and they dug in for a draw at Somerset only last month, which saw Rogers claim his 11th first-class double-century.

The results were crucial to Middlesex avoiding the drop as they fought off the challenge of Lancashire in the final match of the season.

Rogers, who hit 241 versus the White Rose and 203 against Somerset, was happy to play his leading role as he looks forward to linking up with the Australia Test side for the series with Pakistan.

Speaking exclusively to ecb.co.uk, Rogers said: “It’s been a good year personally. There were a couple of big scores which were quite important. I’m quite proud of that.

“Yorkshire have a very good bowling attack so to do it against them - I’m just really happy for the guys to get a win like that.

“The 200 against Somerset was almost as crucial as the one against Yorkshire - just for the fact that we were going very badly, and we needed to turn it around.

“If we had lost that, we would have been in all sorts of trouble. So, it was important for us and I managed to lead from the front.

“It’s been an interesting season. I’ve probably been a little inconsistent, but I’ve had some really good innings.”
