Jack Winslade and George Edwards have been offered the opportunity to join the MCC Young Cricketers Programme after Surrey opted to release the duo.

The pacemen have failed to win new contracts at the Kia Oval and now have the chance to continue their cricket education at Lord’s.

Joining the MCC Young Cricketers, coached by former Gloucestershire and England all-rounder Mark Alleyne, will allow the pair to play in the Second XI Championship and Trophy.

Winslade is a former England Under-19 international, who has made one List A appearance for Surrey, while the 22-year-old Edwards has played 10 times across all formats.

Surrey director of cricket Alec Stewart said: “I am very grateful to head coach Mark Alleyne and the MCC for their assistance in giving both Jack and George the opportunity to continue their cricketing education, while allowing Surrey to monitor their ongoing progress.”

Paceman George Edwards' last appearance for Surrey came in the Royal London One-Day Cup clash against Somerset on August 20
