Lancashire have bolstered their pace bowling department with the signing of Nathan Buck from Leicestershire.

With seamer Kyle Hogg announcing his retirement due to injury last week, the Red Rose have moved quickly to secure the services of the former England Lion, who rejected the offer of a new three-year deal at Grace Road.

Ex-England Lions seamer Nathan Buck has taken 42 LV= County Championship wickets in nine matches for Leicestershire this term

The 23-year-old is Leicestershire's leading wicket-taker in LV= County Championship Division Two this term, snaring 42 scalps in nine matches with a trio of five-wicket hauls.

Buck, who will arrive at Emirates Old Trafford at the end of the current season, said: “I’m very proud and excited to be joining a huge club like Lancashire.

“I had several options on the table but as soon as I knew of Lancashire's interest I had an easy decision to make. I met the management and was very impressed by everything they talked about.

“I want to thank Leicestershire for all they have done for me and the amazing fans there but I feel it’s time to take a step forward in my career.

“I have big ambitions to win competitions and play at a higher level. I know I can achieve these things at Emirates Old Trafford. The staff and facilities are first class and it’s a dream move for me.”

Lancashire cricket director Mike Watkinson added: “Nathan is performing at a good level now and has the potential to become even better. He’s been involved in the England system and is highly regarded.

“Given the sad news that we have lost Kyle Hogg, Nathan will bring in some additional quality and depth to our seam bowling unit.”

Buck becomes the second highly-rated youngster to announce they are leaving Leicestershire at the end of the current campaign after all-rounder Shiv Thakor agreed a two-year deal with Derbyshire last week.

Leicestershire chief executive Mike Siddall said: “We wish to thank Nathan for his contribution over the years he has played for Leicestershire and wish him well for the future.‎”
