7.45pm - Here’s how things stand as six matches head into the final day tomorrow, while Warwickshire can put their feet up having beaten Middlesex. Join us tomorrow to find out who will join them in the winner’s enclosure this week.

Division One

Warwickshire beat Middlesex by an innings and 47 runs to secure a second consecutive championship win. In-form batsmen Sam Robson and Chris Rogers scored 68 and 82 respectively but the visitors collapsed from 155 for one to 248 all out in their second innings.

Durham, for whom Michael Richardson scored a career-best 148, are 361 for eight in reply to Yorkshire’s 589 for eight declared at the Emirates Durham ICG.

Sussex, having dismissed Lancashire for 191 as Steve Magoffin took 4-36, are 216 for five in their second innings, a lead of 323 at Emirates Old Trafford.

Nottinghamshire are 97 for two in their second innings against Somerset at Taunton, a lead of 135 with Phil Jaques unbeaten on 55.

Division Two

Kent are on the verge of victory against Surrey at the Spitfire Ground. The visitors reached stumps on 170 for nine in their second innings - a slender lead of 20. Kent off-spinner Adam Riley has eight wickets in the match.

Essex are 101 for one in their second innings against Leicestershire at the Essex County Ground, 51 behind Leicestershire but boosted by an unbroken stand of 98 between Greg Smith and Jaik Mickleburgh.

Glamorgan are 14 for one in their second innings against Worcestershire at the SWALEC Stadium, and face a huge battle to save the game on the final day due to a 367-run deficit. Visiting captain Daryl Mitchell was unbeaten on 151 at the earlier declaration - his second century of the match.

7.16pm - Claydon traps Stuart Meaker lbw for a 76-ball 12. That’s a brave effort from the Surrey tailender but Kent will be on the brink when they come back tomorrow.

6.58pm - Glamorgan progress to 14 without any further damage and that’s a wrap for day three at the SWALEC Stadium. We’ll have a close-of-play summary with you soon. In the meantime, it’s all eyes on the Spitfire Ground…

6.45pm - They’re done for the day at Emirates Old Trafford, where Sussex could well ponder an overnight declaration. The visitors lead by 323 with five second-innings wickets in hand.

Worcestershire have the valuable wicket of Jacques Rudolph. Andrew rearranges his stumps in the only game still on-going alongside Kent’s victory push.

6.33pm - RESULT! Middlesex (167 & 248) lose to Warwickshire (462) by an innings and 47 runsIn the end Warwickshire do not require too much of that extra half-hour as Patel accounts for Ollie Rayner and Steven Finn in consecutive deliveries, wrapping up consecutive victories in style.

Durham reach stumps without any further damage against Yorkshire, although the have plenty of work to do tomorrow morning to avoid being asked to bat again.

6.27pm - Worcestershire add one run to their total and declare, leaving Glamorgan with a tricky four-over spell to see off tonight.

Meanwhile, Warwickshire have taken the extra half-hour as they chase victory against Middlesex.

6.23pm - It’s proving a productive mini-session at the SWALEC Stadium. Mitchell brings up his 150 to go with a first-innings 109 but Gareth Andrew is bowled by Dean Cosker as quick runs are sought. Worcestershire are 295 for six and 380 ahead.

6.16pm - Riley has the big wicket at the Spitfire Ground as Smith goes for 38. The scores are still level.

6.11pm - The scores are level between Kent and Surrey, the latter with three second-innings wickets remaining.

Worcestershire lose Ross Whiteley upon the restart against Glamorgan. Dean Cosker is the bowler celebrating, while Daryl Mitchell remains on 142.

6.09pm - Mickleburgh and Smith are still there at the close, having moved Essex to 101 for one  - 51 behind Leicestershire

6.06pm - Adil Rashid responds to being hit for six with a sharply spinning leg-break that sees Richardson for a career-best 148. Despite his heroics, Durham are 339 for eight and staring at the follow-on.

Success for another spinner as Simon Kerrigan bowls Rory Hamilton-Brown for 44.

5.58pm - Resumptions are imminent at Emirates Old Trafford and the SWALEC Stadium but stumps are drawn at Taunton.

5.44pm - Mitchell Claydon cleans up Aneesh Kapil and Surrey are 134 for seven - still 16 behind Kent. Captain Graeme Smith remains on 31 not out.

5.39pm - Yorkshire captain Andrew Gale turns to Adil Rashid’s leg-spin and it does the trick as Wood chops on.

5.32pm - Richard Jones pins Joe Denly leg before and Middlesex are 207 for five.

5.30pm - Good news from Emirates Old Trafford, where play will resume at 5.55pm. The delay will account for five overs, leaving 11 remaining today.

5.21pm - In a further boost to Sidebottom’s mood, he watches Adam Lyth drop Wood in the cordon. Durham are 301 for six, 288 behind.

5.15pm - Jaik Mickleburgh and Greg Smith have put on 67 for Essex’s second wicket so far. The recovery still has a way to go with Leicestershire 82 ahead.

5.13 pm - Barely any chance for Taylor to get going at Taunton as another game is delayed by rain.

5.11pm - Phil Jaques moves through to his second half-century of the contest against Somerset but the Nottinghamshire opener has a new partner at the crease in James Taylor. Michael Lumb departed caught at the wicket to Johann Myburgh for 28.

At Durham, a fired-up Ryan Sidebottom has vociferous lbw and caught behind shout against Mark Wood rejected.

5.05pm - The floodlights are on at Emirates Old Trafford but Sussex’s batsman will be keep to press on towards a declaration amid the gathering gloom.

4.58pm - Jeetan Patel finds the outside edge as Neil Dexter props forward to be pouched behind by Tim Ambrose. Middlesex are 186 for four and will feel Warwickshire slowly turning the screw, leading as they do by 109.

4.47pm - That’s a big blow for Surrey as Adam Riley claims his sixth wicket of the match to trap Steven Davies lbw for 40. At 97 for five second time around they remain 53 runs in arrears and Kent might have designs on victory this evening.

The players are back at Edgbaston for a 28-over evening session.

4.34pm - Paul Horton takes a superb one-handed slip catch off Steven Croft to remove Michael Yardy, who added 45 to his first-innings 139. Sussex are 128 for three and lead Lancashire by 235.

4.33pm - That’s it, Richardson goes to three figures in style, punching Liam Plunkett to the extra cover boundary. That’s the Durham man’s third first-class century and second against Yorkshire… but Plunkett strikes moments later as Phil Mustard plays a loose stroke to be caught behind.

4.25pm - A light shower in Birmingham means that restart is pushed back another 10 minutes to 4.40pm.

4.23pm - The players are back out after tea at the Emirates Durham ICG. Yorkshire are armed with a new ball and Michael Richardson is just two runs shy of a century.

4.14pm  - That’s not the start Essex wanted to their second innings. Charlie Shreck follows up his useful tail-end runs by drawing an edge behind from Tom Westley. The home team are 6 for one and 146 behind.

4.06pm - Durham and Yorkshire head to tea with the hosts 270 for five. Elsewhere, matches are getting back under way although we will have that slight delay at Edgbaston and rain has started to fall at the SWALEC Stadium.

3.56pm - Yorkshire have taken the new ball two overs before tea. Collingwood's dismissal may have prompted a re-think.

3.41pm - The new ball is due in three overs at the Emirates ICG Durham, but you get the feeling Yorkshire will wait until after tea to take it. At present Rashid is bowling in tandem with Kane Williamson. Tea will be a tad late as they make up the overs.

3.26pm - Ansari's stoic resistance is ended by an expert stumping from Sam Billings off Adam Riley. Ansari made nine from 60 balls and Surrey are 47 for four - still 103 runs behind Kent.

3.11pm - Michael Richardson moves to his fifty for Durham. The right-hander, who is the son of former South Africa wicketkeeper Dave Richardson, is being tested by Plunkett's pace and bounce though.

3.07pm - A sixth wicket for Panesar. Anthony Ireland is caught by Mark Pettini and Leicestershire are 399 for nine.

3.02pm - Stoneman has gone for 131. Yorkshire were desperate for that breakthrough as the opener is smacked on the front pad without offering a shot to Plunkett. A top innings comes to an end and brings out Durham skipper Paul Collingwood - who does not mind a tough situation.

2.59pm - Surrey are in a spot of bother at the Spitfire Ground against Kent as Rory Burns falls to leave them 32 for three. Darren Stevens does the damage. Zafar Ansari at the other end has bedded in with five from 40 balls.

2.55pm - Stoneman moves to his highest first-class score - 130 not out. He cut Tim Bresnan to the rope to level his previous best of 128, before a mis-field allowed him two later in the over.

2.46pm - Another important wicket for Warwickshire as Sam Robson departs lbw to Richard Jones for 68. Middlesex are 138 runs behind with seven wickets left.

2.34pm - No hat-trick for Panesar. Josh Cobb negotiates the hat-trick ball and gets a run to move along to 49.

2.27pm - Another for Monty! He's on a hat-trick now. It's the last ball of the over - which claimed three wickets - so he'll have to wait a bit. Jigar Naik is his latest scalp.

2.25pm - Two wickets in an over for Monty Panesar at the Essex County Ground. Michael Thornely and Rob Taylor fall victim to the England spinner. Leicestershire's lead is 75 runs with four wickets in hand.

2.23pm - Mark Stoneman has been handed a life. Adil Rashid puts down a sharp chane at first slip off Liam Plunkett.

2.16pm - The entertainment from Peter Trego has ended at Taunton as he is caught 14 runs short of a century. That has prompted the Somerset declaration at 402 for nine. Trego hit 11 fours and two sixes in his 71-ball stay.

2.06pm - Alex Hales' loan to Worcestershire is paying early dividends as he reaches 50 at the SWALEC Stadium. His half-century arrived from 72 balls and included six fours and a six.

2.04pm - Kent have got the start they wanted as Australia left-armer Doug Bollinger removes Arun Harinath early.

1.56pm - A century for Durham opener Mark Stoneman. The left-hander clips Jack Brooks to the midwicket rope to bring up three figures. It has been quite a fluent innings in the face of a huge first-innings total posted by Yorkshire.

1.54pm - Peter Trego has moved along to his half-century also, down at Taunton.

1.44pm - We're back after the lunch break and Sam Robson ticks over to his half-century from 106 balls. There is still plenty of work for Middlesex to do to avoid defeat at Edgbaston though.

1.13pm – Here are the lunch scores:

The 27-year-old seamer is featuring due to Essex’s list of stricken bowlers having played his only other senior cricket in Pakistan. The breakthrough closes an alliance of 149 with Angus Robson.

Meanwhile, Glamorgan’s Jim Allenby traps Tom Kohler-Cadmore in front and Lancashire’s Davies goes to a maiden first-class half-century.

11.33am – Two 80-something stands are over: Jon Lewis has Lancashire’s Tom Smith caught behind for 49, ending an alliance of 82 with Alex Davies, and Samit Patel has Somerset’s Craig Kieswetter caught and bowled for 39, halting a partnership of 84 alongside Alviro Petersen.
