Coverage on day two of the Easter weekend LV= County Championship schedule as Yorkshire and Durham pressed towards victory.

6.50pm - With the action now done and dusted at Cardiff, too, here is our close-of-play scores round-up:

Division One

Durham are 152 for seven, leading by 275, in their second innings against Somerset at the Emirates Durham ICG. Home seamers Graham Onions and Chris Rushworth each took four wickets today to dismiss Somerset for 185.

At Emirates Old Trafford, Warwickshire are on 316 for nine, 69 ahead, in response to Lancashire’s 247 all out. Will Porterfield, Varun Chopra and Ian Bell notched half-centuries.

Northamptonshire will begin their second innings tomorrow morning having been asked to follow on by Yorkshire at Headingley. Jack Brooks claimed 5-36 to dismiss his old club, who trail by 365, for 94 first time around. Gary Ballance amassed 174 for the White Rose.

Division Two

Gloucestershire are230 for nine, 85 ahead of Glamorgan on first innings at the SWALEC Stadium despite Dean Cosker’s five-wicket haul.

Stephen Moore is unbeaten on 106 to leave Derbyshire 203 for two in reply to Hampshire’s 328 at the 3aaa County Ground.

Leicestershire are 333 for nine against Kent at Canterbury on the back of half-centuries from Matthew Boyce and Anthony Ireland.

Essex are 225 for six versus Surrey at the Kia Oval. Matt Dunn was the hosts’ best bowler with 3-53.

6.22pm - That has heralded stumps at the Kia Oval, with Essex 225 for six versus Surrey while Warwickshire are 316 for nine replying to Lancashire's 247 at Emirates Old Trafford.

6.19pm - Stumps are out of the ground at the 3aaa County Ground, where Derbyshire are 203 for two in reply to Hampshire's 328. That's also the case at Canterbury with Kent 333 for nine versus Leicestershire.

6.11pm - Moore reaches a century for Derbyshire amid Durham losing a further two quick wickets, Peter Trego trapping Gareth Breese lbw and Lewis Gregory getting rid of Usman Arshad.

6.04pm - Jason Roy gets rid of Ravi Bopara, strangled down the leg side, one short of a half-century. It's stumps at Headingley, meaning Northants, following on, will begin their second innings tomorrow. 

5.58pm - Anthony Ireland's fun is over following his dismissal off Adam Riley, while Dean Cosker has completed a five-wicket haul by dismissing Hamish Marshall for 32. Elsewhere, Tom Smith has left Warwickshire, who have just moved beyond 300, nine down with Chris Wright sent back.

5.41pm - Johann Myburgh has struck against his old club, ousting Keaton Jennings for a fine 41.

5.39pm - Matt Somerford at Headlingley (Northamptonshire 94; Yorkshire 459/9 dec): It's looking highly unlikely that there will be anymore play here today, although Yorkshire have already decided to enforce the follow-on.

5.35pm - It was always going to take a cracking delivery to oust Bell, and Wayne White has produced it. His leg-cutter has rearranged the England batsman's furniture.

5.20pm - Catch number two didn't take long for Buttler as he combines with Smith again to see the back of Chris Woakes.

5.11pm - Michael Hogan has got rid of Cameron Herring, meaning the scores are level with Gloucestershire six down. Meanwhile, Jos Buttler has just taken his first catch for Lancashire after Tim Ambrose edged Tom Smith behind.

4.56pm - Gloucestershire, now two runs behind, are five down after Will Gidman becomes Dean Cosker's fourth victim.

4.52pm - Ian Bell has certainly started the season well. He's now beyond 50 amid Derbyshire's Wayne Madsen falling stumped off Liam Dawson.

4.40pm - Stephen Moore is on to a half-century for Derbyshire. He has started the season solidly after moving from Lancashire.

4.28pm - It's now tea at the SWALEC Stadium with Gloucestershire 138 for four, seven runs behind Glamorgan. At Emirates Old Trafford, Simon Kerrigan has taken a fine catch to oust Ateeq Javid off Chapple.

4.14pm - It's tea in the north-east with Durham 48 for two, which is good for a 171-run lead. Alex Gidman has become the fourth Gloucestershire batsman to fall, Cosker the bowler, with his side 14 runs in arrears versus Glamorgan.

4.10pm - Matt Somerford at Headlingley (Northamptonshire 94; Yorkshire 459/9 dec): Northants are all out for 94 in a session. Ryan Sidebottom completes the job with two wickets in successive balls. Brooks did the heavy lifting with five-for. We're going to have tea now. I'd imagine Northants will be sent back in.

3.58pm - Stephen Moore and Wayne Madsen have 42 and 30 respectively as Derbyshire head to the interval on 85 for one in response to Hampshire's 328.

3.52pm - Riley strikes again for Kent, removing Ben Raine for six and Leicestershire are 208 for seven at tea.

Gloucestershire are three down as Will Tavare aims a loose stroke at Dean Cosker to depart for 42. His team are just 20 behind Glamorgan.

Warwickshire go to tea against Lancashire in a commanding position on 223 for three - 24 behind Lancashire. Bell and Ateeq Javid have added 62 for the fourth wicket, with 43 and 25 to their respective names.

3.46pm - The procession continues at Headingley as David Murphy is caught behind off Liam Plunkett for a duck.

Leicestershire subside to 197 for six as Doug Bollinger traps Niall O’Brien lbw. The wicketkeeper was well set on 32.

Durham are 31 for two - Borthwick caught magnificently by Chris Jones, one-handed at short midwicket off Peter Trego.

3.35pm - ecb.co.uk's Matt Somerford at Headlingley (Northamptonshire 66/7; Yorkshire 459/9 dec): Jack Brooks has his five-for as Steven Crook slashes to Adil Rashid at backward point. Brooks has been on fire since he has been shifted to the Football Stand End.

3.32pm - It’s turning in to a day to remember for Surrey’s Matt Dunn. The 21-year-old seamer claimed the prized scalp of England captain Alastair Cook earlier and he’s now accounted for Tim Westley and Greg Smith in the space of three balls to leave Essex wobbling on 127 for four. Ravi Bopara is 18 not out.

3.25pm - The day’s favoured mode of dismissal comes into play once more; Leicestershire slip to 175 for five as Adam Riley traps Angus Robson lbw for 15.

Durham are 20 for one in their second innings. Gregory gets Mark Stoneman - yes, you guessed it - lbw. Scott Borthwick is in at three and announces himself with four through the covers.

Brooks now has 4-29 at Headingley as David Willey departs without troubling the scorers. Northants 60 for six.

3.13pm - Dent brings up a fifty and Gloucestershire are making light work of Glamorgan’s paltry first-innings score on 101 for one.

Warwickshire have moved to 207 for three, just 40 behind Lancashire. Bell is ominously poised on 36, with trademark cover drives and late cuts on view.

3.10pm - ecb.co.uk's Matt Somerford at Headlingley (Northamptonshire 45/5; Yorkshire 459/9 dec): Northants lose two more to Jack Brooks. Rob Newton gets a cracker and edges behind to Andy Hodd before Andrew Hall squeezes a low catch to third slip. It could have been worse for Northants, too, as Brooks missed a run-out chance when Matt Spriegel backed up too far.

2.50pm - Bang, bang and that’s the end of Somerset’s reply. Rushworth joins Onions in taking four wickets, as Craig Meschede goes lbw, and from the first ball of the next over Usman Arshad removes Compton for the fifth leg-before verdict of the innings. Somerset are 185 all out, a first-innings deficit of 123.

2.42pm - ecb.co.uk's Matt Somerford at Headlingley (Northamptonshire 27/3; Yorkshire 459/9 dec): Northamptonshire are deep in trouble as Kyle Coetzer edges Ryan Sidebottom to second slip. Yorkshire have four slips and a gully. They sense blood.

2.35pm - Nick Compton is batting in the unfamiliar position of number eight for Somerset after suffering from neck spasms. His team have lost another wicket, with Rushworth winning an lbw verdict at Lewis Gregory’s expense.

In Division Two, Leicestershire and Essex have lost another first-innings wicket apiece. Darren Stevens gets a vital scalp for Kent as Boyce is bowled for 68. Essex opener Jaik Mickleburgh falls, as Alastair Cook did, with a half-century in sights for 38. Jade Dernbach is the man celebrating.

2.25pm - That’s a much-needed breakthrough for Kent as Mitchell Claydon has Ned Eckersley caught at the wicket for 32. Matthew Boyce is still there on 62 having brought up a fine half-century and Leicestershire are 131 for two.

2.18pm - Wickets on both sides of the Pennines - Tom Smith digs in a short ball to have Laurie Evans superbly caught by Luis Reece for 17 and Warwickshire are 161 for three. Meanwhile, Yorkshire are all over Northants as Ryan Sidebottom traps Stephen Peters leg-before.

At Derby, James Tomlinson has accounted for Billy Godleman in similar fashion and the hosts are 10 for one.

2.14pm - Buoyed by his brisk 37 not out from number 11, Yorkshire seamer Jack Brooks has bowled James Middlebrook and Northamptonshire are 16 for one early in their reply to 459 for nine declared.

A mouth-watering contest is under way at Emirates Old Trafford, with James Anderson back into the Lancashire attack to bowl to Ian Bell.

Somerset’s revival is thoroughly snuffed out as Kieswetter follows Trego back to the pavilion after edging Chris Rushworth behind for 35. The score is 164 for seven - 144 behind.

2.07pm - It’s impossible to keep Graham Wagg out of the game at the SWALEC Stadium! Glamorgan’s half-centurion has the breakthrough as Gloucestershire captain Michael Klinger edges to Stewart Walters in the cordon. The score is 31 for one, thanks largely to Chris Dent racing to 22 from 27.

1.59pm - Having once looked at risk of following on, Somerset have recovered well to 161 for five in response to Durham’s 308. Peter Trego has 47 off just 39 deliveries and Craig Kieswetter is playing the unfamiliar role of anchor man on 34.

Leicestershire have passed 100 only for the loss of Greg Smith at Kent.

1.53pm - That’s a wrap on the Hampshire innings as Stephen Moore dives forwards out on the midwicket boundary to take a fine catch and remove Michael Bates for 31. Wes Durston is the bowler to benefit and Derbyshire have dismissed their visitors for 328. 

1.46pm - Mark Footitt took the first wicket of the morning and he’s repeated the trick this afternoon, trapping Matt Coles lbw. Hampshire are 328 for nine.

1.16pm - ecb.co.uk's ​Matt Somerford at Headlingley (Yorkshire 459/9 dec): We are not going to get that outright record ninth lbw decision as Yorkshire have declared following some late hitting from their last two who put on 61 in 10.2 overs.

1.11pm - ecb.co.uk's Matt Somerford at Headlingley (Yorkshire 448/9): Real frustration for Northants as last-wicket pair Jack Brooks and Steven Patterson post a 50-run stand from 57 balls. It's worth noting the eight lbws equals a record for first-class cricket.

1.10pm - Here is the state of play at lunchtime. They're still playing at Headingley as the Yorkshire innings reaches its conclusion. Remember, all play at Canterbury and the Kia Oval was washed out yesterday.

Division One

Somerset are 112 for five in reply to Durham’s 308 all out. Graham Onions has figures of 3-35 at the Emirates Durham ICG.

At Emirates Old Trafford, Warwickshire are well placed on 144 for two in response to Lancashire’s 247 all out. Openers Will Porterfield and Varun Chopra notched half-centuries this morning.

Gary Ballance’s magnificent knock ended on 174, with Yorkshire 448 for nine against Northamptonshire at Headingley.

Division Two

Glamorgan were all out for 145 thanks to a battling last-wicket stand by Graham Wagg and Michael Hogan at the SWALEC Stadium against Gloucestershire.

Hampshire are 320 for eight against Derbyshire after Joe Gatting made 67.

Leicestershire are 86 for one against Kent at Canterbury, where they were asked to bat.

Essex were also invited to post a total by Surrey at the Kia Oval and are 73 for one. England captain Alastair Cook was the man to go for 39.

12.58pm - Chapple pins Chopra in front for 52; the Lancashire captain’s 900th first-class wicket for his county is a timely one and brings lunch. Warwickshire remain in the box seat on 144 for two and will have a certain Ian Bell at the crease when they resume.

12.52pm - Glamorgan are all out for 145. Hogan goes caught at slip off Matt Taylor for 23. Wagg’s unbeaten 54 means more than half of the Welsh team’s total came in the 73-run stand for the last wicket.

12.47pm - In Zafar Ansari’s unfortunate absence and with the covers on, Surrey and Essex have taken an early lunch. We’ll give you a summary of all the scores from around the grounds when the remaining games break in a quarter of an hour.

12.42pm - Despite glorious blue skies this morning, Surrey and Essex are off for rain at the Kia Oval.

12.40pm - Chopra was patient alongside Porterfield’s fireworks this morning and the England Lions batsman now moves to 50. Drama next ball, though, as he almost plays on to White.

12.36pm - ecb.co.uk's Matt Somerford at Headlingley (Yorkshire 398/9): Ballance has finally fallen, playing back to Andrew Hall and being trapped in front for 174. That is the eighth consecutive lbw decision in the innings.

12.34pm - Fifty for Wagg as the Glamorgan counter-attack rattles along to 132 for nine.

Myburgh and Craig Kieswetter were looking to lead a Somerset recovery at Durham but the former has gone lbw to Jamie Harrison for 22 and the score is 84 for five. At 224 runs in arrears, the visitors’ first target must be avoiding the follow-on. 

12.26pm - Relief for Lancashire as Porterfield drives Simon Kerrigan to Wayne White at mid-on to depart for a superb 77. The Red Rose will want at least a couple more moments like that before the lunch break. Warwickshire are 127 for one.

Ryan Sidebottom is out lbw to James Middlebrook having added 15 in a 72-run stand with Ballance. Yorkshire's leading light has 173 of 396 for eight.

12.17pm - Surrey have the breakthrough at the Kia Oval and it’s the man they would have wanted. Cook goes for 39, top-edging an attempted pull off Matt Dunn to be caught.

Leicestershire’s openers have reached 50 at Kent, while Gatting has a deserved half-century having helped Hampshire to 285 for seven alongside Michael Bates.

12.14pm - ecb.co.uk's Matt Somerford at Headlingley (Yorkshire 375/7): Ballance has brought up his 150 by helping Steven Crook over third man for six. This is his highest first-class score for Yorkshire. 

12.10pm - Graham Wagg has responded to Glamorgan’s seemingly hopeless situation by throwing the bat around a little bit. He’s raced to 31 from 40 deliveries and the home team are now 107 for nine. The 35 runs added thus far for the last wicket by Wagg and Michael Hogan is comfortably the best effort of the innings.

11.52am - Unfortunately for Somerset, Onions appears to be in one of those moods. The seamer has 3-22, having pinned James Hildreth in front without scoring. Durham old boy Johann Myburgh is the new batsman with the score 43 for four.

11.47am - Porterfield drives Anderson for four more and Warwickshire’s opening stand is now into three figures. They are 145 behind Lancashire’s first-innings total.

Things are progressing much better for the hosts on the other side of the Pennines. Yorkshire are now 350 for seven against Northamptonshire, with overnight centurion Ballance on to 135.

11.43am - A wicket apiece for Onions and new-ball partner Chris Rushworth as Somerset hit trouble on 39 for three at the Emirates Durham ICG. Chris Jones and Alviro Petersen are the men to go.

11.39am - Ruaidhri Smith is the next man to go for Glamorgan and the score is 72 for eight after he edges James Fuller behind to Cameron Herring.

11.31am - It’s been a sedate first half-hour at the Kia Oval and Canterbury. Essex - featuring England skipper Alastair Cook - and Leicestershire are 19 and nine without loss respectively.

11.28am - Marcus Trescothick progressed to a watchful 17 but Durham talisman Graham Onions has rearranged his furniture. Somerset are 24 for one in response to 308.

Porterfield pulls the landmark-chasing Glen Chapple behind square for four to bring up 50.

11.22am - One delivery after surviving an lbw appeal, Porterfield has pulled James Anderson for a six. The Ireland international is five runs shy of a half-century.

Glamorgan's struggles continue as Will Gidman traps Jim Allenby lbw for 12. Gloucestershire have their hosts 66 for seven

11.19am - Joe Gatting was dismissed for nought and one in his first two championship innings for Hampshire but he is well set on 29 not out this morning and will be key to his team’s ambitions of salvaging a satisfactory total.

11.10am - Warwickshire are looking to build a commanding position at Emirates Old Trafford this morning and openers Varun Chopra and Will Porterfield are up and running with a four apiece. Their stand is worth 77.

11.03am - An early breakthrough for Derbyshire as Mark Footitt uproots off stump to remove nightwatchman Kyle Abbott for nought. Hampshire are 231 for six.

10.58am - The action starts in just a couple of minutes. Kent elected to field yesterday during day of rain, hoping to exploit any moisture in the surface on their home patch as Leicestershire look to post a total.

10.52am - Surrey are, of course, looking to bounce back from their surprise opening defeat on home turf at the hands of Glamorgan. A formidable-looking seam attack of Stuart Meaker, Chris Tremlett and Jade Dernbach will get first use of the new ball.

10.40am - Great news from the grounds where no play was possible yesterday. Surrey have won the toss and will bowl against Essex at the Kia Oval. We’re also set fair for Kent and Leicestershire to get cracking at Canterbury.

10.35am - Good morning and welcome to day two of our coverage of the lastest round of LV= County Championship action.

Below is the state of play in all five games that got under way on Easter Sunday. Unfortunately there were also two washouts.

Division One

Somerset, who won the toss, are seven without loss in reply to Durham’s 308 all out. Keaton Jennings top-scored with 80 while Lewis Gregory returned 4-59.

At Emirates Old Trafford Warwickshire, who lost the toss, eased to 63 for none in response to Lancashire’s 247 all out in which Chris Woakes returned 5-63 and Paul Horton made 83.

Gary Ballance scored 117 not out of Yorkshire’s 328 for seven after Northamptonshire were asked to field first at Headingley where Alex Lees made 90.

Division Two

Gloucestershire, having chosen to bowl, reduced Glamorgan to 47 for six by lunch at the SWALEC Stadium, but showers stopped any further action so David Payne stayed on a hat-trick.

Hampshire are 231 for five after being put in to bat by Derbyshire at the 3aaa County Ground where Will Smith struck 70.

Rain prevented play between Kent, who won the toss when there was the prospect of a mid-afternoon start, and Leicestershire at Canterbury.

There was also a washout at the Kia Oval, but with no toss possible, where Surrey are hosting Essex.
