Sussex and Sussex Cricket Board are to integrate in a groundbreaking move for a first-class county, resulting in a single-bodied club called ‘Sussex Cricket’.
The change, which will take place on November 1 2015 and has the full backing of the ECB, was given the go-ahead by Sussex members at the county’s annual general meeting this week.
Sussex chairman Jim May said: “The key benefits of the integration are a stronger overall ‘brand’ of Sussex Cricket, with cross-referrals through a common organisation and membership structure.
“We will streamline management, reduce bureaucracy and overhead costs. This will lead to better business outcomes, and enhanced development of all cricket in the county, as we strive to maintain the success of our professional squad.
“Sussex Cricket has a strategy of ‘inspiring a lifelong passion for cricket’ and our members have given the go-ahead for us to become one body embracing the whole game.”
