Virender Sehwag showed his class with a sublime century as MCC eased to a six-wicket victory over Durham in the County Champion match in Abu Dhabi.
The veteran India batsman hit 18 fours and a maximum in his 97-ball 109 as MCC, resuming on 48 for two, reached their victory target of 224 in 51 overs.
Sehwag shared in a fourth-wicket stand of 105 with Samit Patel, who compiled an unbeaten 48 at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium
After Daniel Bell-Drummond was caught and bowled by Scott Borthwick for 27 in the 31st over, Sehwag and Patel joined forces to take the game away from the county champions.
The MCC skipper, who has played 104 Tests for his country, found the boundary with ease and required only 88 deliveries to reach three figures, hitting Jamie Harrison for four to reach the milestone.
The 35-year-old was surprisingly dismissed by Harrison nine balls after he registered his ton with 13 required for victory, but the damage was already done and Patel saw his side home alongside Prasanna Jayawardene.
Nottinghamshire all-rounder Patel struck half a dozen fours in his 61-ball innings while his Sri Lankan partner Jayawardene was unbeaten on six.
