A stunning bowling performance helped West Indies defeat Bangladesh by 36 runs to claim their second successive win in the Women’s World Twenty20.
Chasing a modest 116 for victory, the hosts were never at the races and lost their last six wickets for just seven runs to be dismissed for 79 inside 18 overs, Rumana Ahmed top-scoring with 26.
Spinner Shaquana Quintyne led the way with figures of 3-5 from three overs while Tremayne Smartt and Anisa Mohammed snared two scalps apiece as the Windies followed up their opening win over England with another two points to sit pretty in Group B.
After winning the toss, West Indies struggled to emulate the start they made against England with Kycia Knight, who made 43 two days ago, dismissed for a second-ball duck.
Merissa Aguilleira’s side failed to build any momentum, losing batters at regular intervals, and despite Deandra Dottin’s 36 and 20 from Stacy-Ann King, they were dismissed for 115 with the final ball of the innings.
Bangladesh spinner Khadija Tul Kubra impressed, dismissing Dottin and King en route to 3-24 from four overs.
The Tigers are next in action on Friday in Sylhet against Charlotte Edwards’ England.
