Netherlands were dismissed for just 39, the lowest total in international Twenty20 history, as Sri Lanka ran riot in Chittagong.

Ajantha Mendis struck three times from his 15 deliveries as Netherlands were dismissed for a Twenty20 International record low score of 39Having qualified for the Super 10 stage of the World T20 with a record-breaking run chase against Ireland, Netherlands etched their names in the annals for the wrong reasons as they were dismissed in just 10.3 overs for 17 fewer than the previous low watermark set by Kenya last year.

Sri Lanka coasted to victory by nine wickets in just five overs and collected a massive boost to their net run-rate in the process.

The rout started immediately, with the Dutch three down for just one after the first two overs.

Nuwan Kulasekara removed Stephan Myburgh in a wicket-maiden to start, before Angelo Mathews sent back Michael Swart and Wesley Barresi from successive deliveries.

Captain Peter Borren was Mathews' third wicket, and bagged his side's third duck when he fell lbw.

Tom and Ben Cooper added 16 runs for the fifth wicket, temporarily halting the procession before the latter was run out for eight taking on Thisara Perera's arm.

When elder brother Tom misread Ajantha Mendis to go for 16 it was the end of the resistance, with the next four wickets falling for the addition of just six runs.

Lasith Malinga cashed in with the scalps of Logan van Beek and Mudassar Bukhari, while Mendis banked the wickets of Pieter Seelaar and Ahsan Malik as the tail offered scant resistance.

Netherlands at least avoided a 10-wicket defeat, Malik having Kusal Perera caught by Swart for a frenetic 14, but Tillakaratne Dilshan and Mahela Jayawardene reached the target in exactly five overs - the quickest ever run chase at senior international level.
