Sussex opening batsman Chris Nash is set to miss the start of the season with a ruptured appendix.
The 30-year-old right-hander has been left out of the squad to travel to Dubai this week for their pre-season preparations.
Nash, Sussex’s vice-captain, has missed just one LV= County Championship game in the last four seasons, during which time he has passed the 1,000-run mark twice.
