Captain Tammy Beaumont’s superb 140 not out ensured England Women’s Academy ended their tour of Sri Lanka on a high with victory in the 50-over mini-series.

Having drawn the Twenty20 leg 2-2 with Sri Lanka Emerging Women, the tourists followed up Sunday’s 39-run defeat of a Sri Lanka Cricket Women's XI - when Beaumont also top-scored with 69 - by beating the same opponents.

Tammy Beaumont led from the front with an unbeaten 140 in a comfortable victory for England Women's Academy in Colombo

Not only did Beaumont’s 156-ball innings today include nine fors and a six, it fully justified her decision to bat first at the Burgher Recreation Club Ground in Colombo.

Beaumont, who shared an opening stand of 105 with Amara Carr, dominated a total of 241 for four in which Carr’s 46 was the next-best contribution.

Fran Wilson chipped in with 28 of a second-wicket alliance worth 81 before being the first of three late wickets, two going to Dharshani Dharmasiri.

Once the home openers fell in the teens, Deepika Rasangika offered almost lone resistance in making 58 until last-wicket duo Ama Kanchana and Niluka Karunaratne showed fight with 29 and 25 respectively.

Georgia Hennessy did much of the bowling damage, reducing the hosts from 50 for one to 97 for four. There were also two wickets each for Jodie Dibble and Alex McDonald, the latter whose six overs cost just seven runs. A 47-run win came at the start of the 44th over.
