Charlotte Edwards branded the Women's Ashes Test victory in Perth as one of her best in an England shirt.
The tourists wrapped up a 61-run win in the early hours, Katherine Brunt bowling Sarah Elliott to spark joyous scenes at the WACA.
That dismissal concluded a wonderful game that ebbed and flowed right up until the final day when player of the match Ellyse Perry threatened to turn the contest on its head.
But it was England's day as the visitors secured a 6-0 points lead in the Ashes series ahead of the one-day internationals, which start on Sunday.
"It's an unbelievable feeling," Edwards told ecb.co.uk."I don't think you can ever describe it unless you are wearing the Three Lions. To come over here and win at the WACA is a great achievement and these girls should be really proud of that.
"I'm delighted. It's been a really long four days, it's been up and down, we've fought throughout and that's the fight we've got within this team. To pull something off like that is absolutely fantastic. It's one of my sweetest victories."
England started the final day needing just five wickets to strike a hefty blow in the fight to win the Ashes.
But, in keeping with a thrilling Test, wrapping up victory proved anything but easy as Perry confirmed her standing as one of the game's big stars.
Having finished with match figures of 8-79 to go with 71 in the first innings, Perry continued her lone attack to take Australia within sight of victory.
The all-rounder had reached 31 and Australia 99 for five when Anya Shrubsole ended her brilliant innings, after which England pouced on the tail and bowled Australia out for 123.
"Wickets have fallen in clusters so it was a case of keep believing," the captain explained.
"Once we got Perry, that was a crucial wicket because she was starting to take the game away from us, and then to get another wicket straight after that. To end it in the fashion we did was unbelievable."
Edwards praised Shrubsole, who finished with seven wickets in the match amid debutants Kate Cross and Natalie Sciver shining with ball and bat respectively.
"Anya always wants the ball and bowled fantastically well," said Edwards."She got the rewards in this Test match. In England she didn't get the rewards she deserved but here she's definitely got them.
"Kate Cross on debut - what a fantastic effort and Nat Sciver also on debut as well. These girls are coming into international cricket and performing straight away which is great to see."
England know two victories in the ODIs and Twenty20 internationals will retain the Ashes.
"We can't get too carried away," warned Edwards. "We are going to enjoy this, celebrate it, but it's really important come next week for the first one-dayer at the MCG that we are on it and keep the momentum with us now."
