Durham’s Mark Wood has been called into the England Lions squad after Jamie Overton was forced to withdraw.
Somerset all-rounder Overton will miss the tour of Sri Lanka early next year with a knee problem.
Wood, who broke into the Durham first team this season, will take over the all-rounder role having been particularly impressive with the ball in 2013.
The 23-year-old took 40 wickets across all three formats, and both he and Overton had been working on strength and conditioning at the National Performance Centre in Loughborough.
England Lions will play five three-day games on the tour, which starts in February.
