Having hit a quick 25 to lift Pakistan to 241 for eight, Zafar Gohar claimed three wickets as England lost by 47 runs

Pakistan continued their domination of the Under-19 Tri-series in the United Arab Emirates, maintaining their perfect record with a 47-run defeat of England at Sharjah.

Sami Aslam’s team are the first to reach next Sunday’s final after they made it four wins from four. England should join them given the UAE have lost all four of their games.

Aslam and Kamran Ghulam reacted to being put into bat today with a 51-run opening stand, broken by Will Rhodes having the former caught behind for 23. Ghulam and Imam-ul-Haq then added 73 until Jack Winslade ran out Imam for 41.

England made it four wickets in three overs. Rob Sayer had Rafay Ahmed caught and bowled before Miles Hammond castled Ghulam for 53 and trapped Hasan Raza in front first ball.

Saud Shakeel held an innings of 241 for eight together with 45, while Saifullah Khan and Zafar Gohar chipped in with 28 and 25 respectively - Gohar’s coming off just nine deliveries.

Although Harry Finch struck 42, once his opening partner Jonathan Tattersall was lbw to Ghulam for 23, England lost regular wickets.

Ryan Higgins and Will Rhodes respectively made 23 and 28, but Gohar struck twice in the 36th over. Sayer fired a counter-attacking 47, featuring four fours and three sixes, from number nine. However, it was in vain as Zia-ul-Haq’s third wicket dismissed England in the 46th.
