Warwickshire have announced a major deal with the news all-rounder Chris Woakes has penned a two-year contract extension.
Woakes, a 24-year-old who has represented England in all three forms, is one of the leading players in domestic cricket.
He said: “I’ve now been with Warwickshire for 13 years and am a proud Bear, so the opportunity to extend my contract was something that I was very keen to do.
“We’ve got a great set-up at Edgbaston, with fantastic supporters, facilities, coaching team and an incredibly strong Warwickshire squad that can compete for silverware in all competitions.
“We’re all working hard in pre-season training and are looking forward to the challenges of 2014.”
Dougie Brown, Warwickshire’s Director of Cricket, added: “Chris has proved himself as an outstanding cricketer who can change the outcome of a match with bat and ball.
“His performance against Derbyshire in the LV= County Championship last season was a great example of this, where his unbeaten 152 set up a great position to force a win.
“While he is an experienced member of the squad who has represented England in all formats of the game, he is still only 24 and we expect his best days to be ahead of him.
“We’re delighted that those years will be spent here at Edgbaston.”
