Stuart Broad’s three wickets in the second Ashes Test defeat of the winter helped him pull further clear of the chasing pack in the England FTI MVP rankings.
The Nottinghamshire bowler’s performance in Adelaide took his total to 67 points during the winter and 39 points clear of nearest challenger Michael Carberry.
During the first innings Broad accumulated 11.97 bowling points with an economy rate of 3.27 from 30 overs. It was his second biggest bowling total on the tour after he secured a mammoth 29.96 points in the first innings in Brisbane.
Broad, averaging 33.34 points in Australia, sits second in the overall wicket taking rankings with 11 dismissals, only six behind man-of-the-moment Mitchell Johnson.
Carberry’s knock of 60 in England’s first innings at the Adelaide Oval made up 34.88% of the run total and returned 14.96 batting points.
Another positive note was that Ian Bell found some batting form with an unbeaten 72 in response to Australia’s 570 for nine declared. That moved Bell up to third in the FTI MVP rankings as he scored 41.86% of his side’s first innings total to earn 18.39 batting points.
The FTI MVP rewards players for every run scored, wicket taken and catch held across all three formats of the game.
Bowlers receive higher marks for good economy rates in the FTI MVPs, bowling maidens and dismissing the top order, while batsmen are rewarded for high run rates and the percentage of the team’s runs they hit.
