Harris gunning for England

Ryan Harris has warned England’s batsmen he will be going "all guns blazing" during the second Ashes Test in Adelaide this week.

The 34-year-old took five wickets as Australia won comfortably in Brisbane and he insists he is ready to go again as the hosts look to go 2-0 ahead in the series.

Harris played second fiddle to Mitchell Johnson in the opening Test, but his importance is not to be under-estimated having impressed hugely when the teams met in England this year.

"I will be all guns blazing here," said Harris, who was quick to dismiss reports he was due to miss this week’s game to ensure he was fresh for Perth.

"I am not going to miss a Test unless I have to.

"I have said since the start I am here to play five Tests. I had the turnaround in England and got through it okay."

He added: "I must admit, all the reports about me resting, I have not even had the conversation with 'Boof' [Australia coach Darren Lehmann] yet.

"He has not mentioned one word about me resting - which is good.

"I don't think going into a game holding me back is good.

"It is not what you do. You have to go in and bowl as if it is your last Test.

"If I was going in only to bowl 30-35 overs, I would not play.

"You can't have one bloke going half-hearted, because it puts pressure on the three other bowlers."

With Jonathan Trott returning home last week, England will reshuffle their batting order and Harris hopes Ian Bell ends up at number three - only to have a shot at him at the start of the England innings.

"I hope it will be Bell in there early, because it will give us a chance to get him out.

"Jonathan is a big loss, and we have got to make sure we capitalise on that and we are ready for whoever comes in.

"I want him [Bell] in there early. It gives him more time to get in, but gives us more time to have a crack at him and get him out earlier."
