Northamptonshire have today announced that club captain Stephen Peters has signed a new two-year deal with the county.
The 34-year-old scored 735 runs during the 2013 campaign as he led Northants to promotion from the LV= County Championship Division Two in his first season as skipper.
Peters, who joined Northants in 2006, passed 13,000 career first-class runs during the last year and is excited to contribute further to the club cause throughout his extension.
"I am absolutely delighted to have signed a new contract with Northants as last year was superb for all involved with the club,” he said. “I'm proud to have played a part in that success and look forward to helping the club progress even further in the next couple of years."
Head coach David Ripley added: "Stephen’s influence on last year's success was immense. He has the respect of everybody in the dressing room, from senior players to debutants.
“I look forward to working with him, building on last year's promotion, as we prepare for life in Division One. With an average of 40 plus since he joined the club, he's not too bad opening the batting either!"
