Ebony Rainford-Brent was part of the World Cup and World T20 winning squads in 2009

ECB today announced that the former England cricketer Ebony Rainford-Brent had been appointed as a trustee of the England and Wales Cricket Board Trust.

Rainford-Brent, who played 29 times for her country before retiring from international cricket last year, was a member of England Women's World Cup and World T20 winning squads in 2009.

A Level Two qualified ECB Coach, she was previously a Coaching Ambassador for the Chance to Shine programme which promotes cricket in state schools and is currently Cricket Programmes Manager at the Lord's Taverners.

ECB Chief Executive David Collier, who is a fellow trustee, said: "As well as being an outstanding sportswoman, Ebony has been an inspirational figure to hundreds of children through her work for the Chance to Shine programme and the Lord's Taverners and we are delighted she has agreed to serve as a Trustee.

"This role will enable Ebony to bring all her knowledge and experience of the recreational game to bear in supporting the Trust's work - and, in particular, its aim to provide even greater opportunities for women, girls and ethnic minorities to participate in cricket."

The England and Wales Cricket Trust works in close partnership with ECB's national network of 39 County Boards to promote recreational cricket. A total of £8.6 million was distributed by the Trust to County Cricket Boards, cricketing charities and cricket clubs during 2012-13.
