Scarborough Cricket Club welcomed 10 teams to the inaugural Yorkshire Day Girls Tournament, organised by North Yorkshire, for girls at both U13 and U15 levels, in the year that Yorkshire CCC celebrates its 150th anniversary.

The sun shone as the two tournaments took place on the historic ground in front of the charming old pavilion, and a crowd of parents and friends as well as some interested holidaymakers.

The Senior Final saw South Yorkshire beat West Yorkshire with Rhiannan Fox winning the Player of the Tournament Award, while the Junior Tournament saw South Yorkshire again successful, this time beating North Yorkshire, the two teams having had to win a golden over shoot-out to get to the Final after three teams tied to top the group.

Alex Murray of West Yorkshire won the Player of the Junior Tournament Award, with both winners receiving a handmade bat made by Nixon Bats of Malton.

It is hoped that this, or a similar event, will become a regular feature in the calendar - undoubtedly a memorable event for the girls to be able to play on the County Ground.
