8:23pm - Roy is fortunate not to pick out deep midwicket with a wild heave at Durston, who is then lofted over mid-on by Davies twice in succession. After Roy survives a stumping appeal off Peter Burgoyne, the young spinner makes a much-needed breakthrough as Davies holes out to long-off immediately after bringing up a stunning 21-ball half-century.
8:13pm - Davies had looked the more fluent of Surrey’s batsmen in the opening overs, but Roy is now into his stride too, driving Alex Hughes’ first ball to the fence and flicking the next high over midwicket for the game’s first maximum. To be honest, this is carnage at the moment. Hughes is no-balled for a high full-toss, which Roy pulls for four. The seamer's first over brings 23 runs in all and Surrey are 81 without loss after six.
8:02pm - The boundaries keep on coming at Derby as Roy and Davies punish some erratic bowling. These two are a lovely combination at the top of the order, Roy’s hard-hitting approach contrasting effectively with the more elegant strokeplay of his partner. After the mandatory four-over powerplay, Surrey have 49 on the board. Davies has 26 from 10 balls!
7:53pm - This is not the start Derbyshire were after. A pretty sloppy over of off-spin from Wes Durston yields 10 runs. Mark Footitt then begins with a wide and is subsequently taken for fours on either side of the wicket by Jason Roy as Surrey end the second set of six on 21 without loss.
7:40pm - Not long now until play begins. Tomorrow morning, you will be able to read an exclusive ecb.co.uk interview with one of the players involved in this game - Derbyshire batsman Chesney Hughes.

We'll have the full story on the site later, but here is what he had to say on his side's winless start to the championship season: "I don't think there is any panic whatsoever from our point of view to now actually win 10 games in a row. There's 10 games left so there is a lot of time for us; we just need to start playing more consistent cricket. That's the most important hurdle for us to first get over and the rest will look after itself."
10:43am - The tosses have taken place in the games beginning on time, albeit a day late in the case of Somerset versus Yorkshire.
