With 223.1 overs lost to rain over the four days and Wayne Madsen and Scott Elstone sharing an unbroken partnership 177, there was no chance of a positive outcome to the game, and at 4.50pm the two captains shook hands with the match drawn.
After rain had washed out the morning session, play did not resume until 1.25pm with 68 overs remaining and the visitors to the SWALEC Stadium resuming on nought without loss, leading by 102 on first innings after Glamoragn declared behind.
The hosts had hoped to make inroads into Derbyshire’s second innings, and although they did remove the openers for 32, they were denied any further success.

Chesney Hughes was the first to go when he was trapped leg before by Michael Hogan, before a disconsolate Ben Slater was out to Dean Cosker. He struck a gentle full-toss from the left-arm spinner to short midwicket, and was so disgusted with his dismissal he almost had to be dragged from the crease.
Madsen and Elstone then settled into their productive partnership, with Elstone, who joined Derbyshire two years ago passing his previous career best of 63 . He went on reach his maiden championship century which included one six and eight fours, whereupon Madsen, who was undefeated on 72, declared.
Glamorgan have now drawn their three LV= County Championship games this season, while Derbyshire have won one, drawn one and lost one, but the former’s head coach Toby Radford was not concerned that they have yet to taste victory.
“We have played positive cricket on two flat pitches, while this game was ruined by the weather,” he said.
