A review of a memorable day for James Harris as his 9-34 sent Middlesex top of LV= County Championship Division One with victory over Durham at Lord's. Worcestershire also picked up their first win back in the top-flight while Gloucestershire claimed a rare win at Essex.
By Bibhash Dash & Matt Somerford
6.45pm - Here's the story of the day from all six grounds:
James Harris stole the day’s headlines with 9-34 at Lord’s as Durham were skittled for 71 to hand Middlesex a 187-run victory and send them top of the table.
Worcestershire claimed their first win back in the top-tier in emphatic style by an innings and 62 runsover Somerset, who were left alone at the foot of the table.
Liam Norwell’s 10-wicket haul inspired Gloucestershire to a rare Championship win at Chelmsford as they beat Essex by nine wickets.
Clint McKay claimed six wickets and then hit a much-needed 43 as Leicestershire reached stumps 307 runs ahead of Kent at 189 for eight.
A century stand between Ashwell Prince and Peter Siddle, who hit 89, helped Lancashire claim an unlikely 51-run first-innings lead. Northamptonshire are 42 for two in the reply.
After yet more rain in Cardiff, Glamorgan captain Jacques Rudolph declared 102 runs adrift of Derbyshire, who will begin tomorrow tasked with setting a target.
STUMPS | Leicestershire 189-8 after being 86-7. Lead stands at 307 after super contributions from McKay (43), Taylor (33*) & Naik (23*)
— Leicestershire CCC (@leicsccc) May 5, 2015
6.36pm - Stumps have been drawn at Wantage Road with Northants 42 for two. They are nine runs behind. If we're going to have a result then quick runs tomorrow morning are top of the agenda.
Leicestershire have taken their lead beyond 300 with Taylor and Jigar Naik now combining in a valuable stand worth 41 runs. Mark Cosgrove might even be musing over an overnight declaration.
We should see some more cricket in a few minutes. Umpires Saggers and Baldwin call players back out with sun bursting through.
— Lancashire CCC (@LancsCCC) May 5, 2015
6.10pm - Bad light has forced the players off at Wantage Road with Northants 32 for two. They trail by 19 runs.
McKay has been bowled by Stevens for 43. 148-8
— Leicestershire CCC (@leicsccc) May 5, 2015
5.47pm - The partnership between McKay and Rob Taylor is worth more than 50. After his six wickets earlier McKay is having a great day as he closes on a half-century himself. Leicestershire are 148 for seven.

— Lancashire CCC (@LancsCCC) May 5, 2015
5.19pm - Clint McKay is providing some late hitting to build the Leicestershire lead. He is unbeaten on 19 and the Foxes are 107 for seven.
5.12pm - They have given up at Cardiff. The weather wins the day but Rudolph's daring declaration means that a result is possible. Derbyshire will begin tomorrow 102 runs ahead and, you suspect, the intention of batting for no more than a session. Weather permitting.

5.04pm - Rob Newton's move to the top to cover for Richard Levi has not worked. He's gone for a duck as Alviro Petersen catches from Jarvis.
The rain has returned in Cardiff and so too the frustration. That might be it for the day.
Peters and Newton opening for NHANTS, Levi suffering from finger injury. 51 behind. Siddle from Pav end, Jarvis from Lyn Wilson end.

4.53pm - I said earlier in the blog there would need to be some funky captaincy to get a result at Cardiff. We've got it. Glamorgan skipper Jacques Rudolph has declared before the resumption with his side 102 runs behind. Derbyshire tasked with setting a target now.
4.47pm - Siddle falls short of what would have been his second first-class century. The Victorian is adjudged lbw to Rory Kleinveldt, who completes his five-wicket haul, and Lancashire are bowled out for 436. That is a handy advantage of 51 runs.
Leicestershire are making a meal of their second innings. Ben Raine is the latest batsman to depart without reaching double figures. Ivan Thomas gets the lbw decision and four of the six Foxes batsmen to fall have failed to get past 10. The lead is 204.
Kerrigan gone! He's been caught behind driving at Azharullah for 21. Lancs 427-9 and Siddle is 86.
— Lancashire CCC (@LancsCCC) May 5, 2015
4.28pm - Play is due to begin at the SWALEC Stadium at 5pm.
Leicestershire are taking their tea at 81 for five. Not the start they wanted, but they hold a lead of 199 runs nonetheless.
4.19pm - Siddle is unbeaten on 82 and Lancashire now have all five batting bonus points as they look to build a first-innings lead they might not have imagined they would get earlier today.

3.55pm - Leicestershire lose two in quick succession as Angus Robson is bowled by Darren Stevens for 30. The Foxes are 71 for four. That's a lead of 189 runs.
They are back out at Wantage Road for the final session of the day.
WICKET | Sorry I put the mockers on us there. Cosgrove lbw Claydon for 29. 50 stand with Robson. We are 71-3
— Leicestershire CCC (@leicsccc) May 5, 2015
3.40pm - Lancashire have gone to tea at 377 for seven with the first-innings deficit down to eight run. Siddle is unbeaten on 61 with Bailey on his career-best 32.
Into the final 10 mins of the session. Lancs 370-7, Siddle 59, Bailey on 30 - a career best.
— Lancashire CCC (@LancsCCC) May 5, 2015
3.18pm - RESULT! Gloucestershire (245 & 114/1) have beaten Essex (159 & 199) by nine wickets. There is the first win of the season for Gloucestershire and their first under new coach-captain team of Richard Dawson and Geraint Jones. Liam Norwell will deservedly get the credit for his 10-wicket match haul before the openers made light work of the 114 set for victory. Both Tavare and Dent made half-centuries.
STAT ALERT! - That is Gloucestershire's first Championship win at the Essex County Ground since 1930.

3.05pm - Siddle reaches a 98-ball half-century and Lancashire are now on the brink of a fourth batting bonus point. The Aussie paceman has been given a couple of lives with a missed stumping while Muhammed Azhar Ullah was just unable to take a return chance. Northants' lead is also down to 40 runs.
Tavare has fallen just short of victory at the Essex County Ground. Daniel Lawrence holds the catch off Jamie Porter. Tavare made a quickfire 57 - there's a line for the cricket nostalgists - with just eight runs needed to sew up the win.
2.58pm - Tavare picks up a half-century and Gloucestershire are 89 without loss. They are cruising.
Another wicket for Ivan Thomas. He removes Eckersley's off stump, who departs for 4. Leics 21/2, lead 139. http://t.co/rm8I7avwoD#KENvLEI
— Kent Cricket (@kentcricket) May 5, 2015
2.55pm - The news was indeed bad from the SWALEC Stadium where they've decided to take an early tea at 3.10pm due to the rain. Some funky captaincy might be needed to get a result there.
2.45pm - Leicestershire lose an early wicket as they look to cement their advantage. Matt Boyce is trapped lbw by Thomas for four in the eighth over.
It doesn't look like we'll get good news from that inspection in Cardiff with rain falling.

2.37pm - The partnership between Prince and Siddle is ended on 100 and it is the centurion who departs. Steven Crook induces the false stroke to cover and Lancashire are 321 for seven - 64 runs adrift. Prince exits for 153.
150! Prince gets to his latest milestone off 208 balls with 21 fours. Lancs 315-6. #NORvLAN
— Lancashire CCC (@LancsCCC) May 5, 2015
2.30pm - Gloucestershire openers Chris Dent and Will Tavare are serenely going about the task of knocking off this chase at Chelmsford. Their stand is worth 50 and a first Gloucestershire win of the season could come within the session.
2.22pm - There will be a 2.45pm pitch inspection at the SWALEC Stadium. The weather seems determined to have its way with this game with Glamorgan 103 for four in their first dig - 102 runs behind.
Lancashire have a third batting bonus point as their southern hemisphere recruits Prince and Siddle continue to wile away in a seventh-wicket stand now with 84.
Gloucestershire 33 / 0 and trail Essex by 80 runs with 10 wickets remaining. Dent & Tavare at the crease. http://t.co/lux4bDhPIW
— Gloucestershire CCC (@Gloscricket) May 5, 2015
2.08pm - Kent have been bowled out for 265. McKay makes it a six-wicket haul as he rips out Ivan Thomas' leg stump. Leicestershire lead by 118 runs. Does that elusive win await....
Ashwell Prince and Peter Siddle have added 50 runs together for the seventh wicket as they close the gap on Northants' advantage.
WICKET | That's a first 5-for for @clintmckay27 and Kent are 268-9. Riley caught by Robson
— Leicestershire CCC (@leicsccc) May 5, 2015
2.04pm - RESULT! Worcestershire (402) have beaten Somerset (250 & 90) by an innings and 62 runs. There is the Pears' first win back in Division One. Shantry completes the job as Alfonso Thomas is held by Joe Leach. Shantry's second-innings figures were 4-15. Somerset are left alone at the foot of the table after three defeats to start their campaign.
1.59pm - Worcestershire can taste their first win back in the top-flight. They need just one more wicket now as Shantry gets Craig Overton lbw. Somerset 90 for nine.
1.48pm - Somerset are slumping towards an innings defeat as James Hildreth is lbw to Jack Shantry. Worcestershire need two more wickets with Somerset still 65 runs in arrears.
Lancs are 252-6, second batting point in the bag, thanks to back to back Prince fours off Kleinveldt, one square cover and other mid-wicket
— Lancashire CCC (@LancsCCC) May 5, 2015
1.21pm - Here are the round-ups from around the grounds at lunch.
Division One
It was a superb result for Middlesex for whom James Harris grabbed spectacular figures of 9-34 in the second innings. Durham were bowled out for 71, and hosts Middlesex went on to win by 187 runs.
The only other game in Division One sees Somerset in all sorts of trouble at New Road against Worcestershire. Somerset began their second innings today but have been reduced to 74 for seven, still 78 runs behind. Charlie Morris is on fire for the hosts with 4-26.
Division Two
Northamptonshire have begun their day against Lancashire after the morning session was wiped out. Ashwell Prince is looking to continue on after posting his hundred last night with Lancashire226 for six.
Glamorgan and Derbyshire had a delayed start due to the weather. But play was possible to allow hosts Glamorgan to reach 103 for four before another rain delay forced early lunch.
Kent and Leicestershire also had a delayed start, with the hosts then limping to 282 for eight with Clint McKay leading the way with four wickets.
Essex were bowled out for 199 by Gloucestershire, for whom Liam Norwell claimed a 10-wicket haul, in an extended morning session. Gloucestershire need 114 for a first win of the season.
1.15pm - Not good news at all for Kent fans, as the eighth batsman falls. Sam Billings trapped lbw by Shreck and they are still 124 behind.

1.12pm - Kent have lost their seventh wicket in Matt Coles - again McKay striking - while Northants also strike early and it's Rory Kleinveldt doing the damage removing Alex Davies and Jordan Clark.

1.07pm - The drama continues for Northants and Lancashire.
The wind has proved too strong for the use of bails. We are playing without them. Any bowled decision is down to umpires' discretion.
— Lancashire CCC (@LancsCCC) May 5, 2015
Elsewhere, it will be an extended session for Essex and Gloucestershire, with just one wicket remaining for the former. This will be the most interesting lunch-time round-up I have ever done.
1.05pm - Kent in a spot of bother with two quick wickets. Northeast departs after his 84 to Charlie Shreck before Darren Stevens is caught by Lewis Hill off Clint McKay for 23. Four wickets left for Kent, who trail Leicestershire by 129.
1.02pm - At the other end, Lancashire have begun play against Northants. Prince resumes his effort.
PLAY: Were underway here at the County ground. LANCS resume on 216-4 (52), Prince 104*, Davies 33*. Cobb and Azhar for NHANTS. #NHANTSVLANCS
— Northants Cricket (@NorthantsCCC) May 5, 2015
1pm - It's lunch at Worcestershire, and on the stroke of it Somerset lost their seventh wicket. Lewis Gregory goes for 14 and the visitors will need a mammoth effort to make Worcestershire bat again.
12.56pm - Not everyday you get to be part of history. Sort of.
Incredible from @James_Harris9. Didn't mean to wreck the party. #9fer
— Steven Finn (@finnysteve) May 5, 2015
12.53pm - Lunch, for those that are still out playing, is not far away. Glamorgan and Derbyshire have already gone off for their interval. However, Northants and Lancashire are due to kick things off at 1pm.
12.45pm - So will we see a couple of more results by the end of today? Essex don't have much of a lead against Gloucestershire. Meanwhile, Somerset are in danger of an innings defeat against Worcestershire!
What a performance from @James_Harris9 today - well deserved applause after taking 9-34 for @Middlesex_CCCpic.twitter.com/5Uak0LlSwQ
— Lord's Ground (@HomeOfCricket) May 5, 2015
12.37pm - Essex are knee-deep in trouble at 180 for nine after Adeel Malik and Kishen Vilani depart in the same over - to David Payne.
Meanwhile, it's looking good over at Wantage Road:
Play to start at 1pm for day 3 of NHANTS v LANCS. NHANTS posted 385 all out, LANCS now 216-4 in their reply. #NHANTSVLANCS

12.33pm - Building up to lunch here. We will bring you all the round-ups shortly.
6 - Six of the last 11 Championship 9 or 10 wicket hauls have involved Durham (three for, three against). Entertainers.
— OptaJim (@OptaJim) May 5, 2015
12.26pm - Other games still going on of course. And Kent are 215 for four after Joe Denly was gone lbw for a well-made 87. His 139-run stand with Northeast keeping Kent well in the game.
12.25pm - RESULT! Middlesex (463 & 89) have beaten Durham (294 & 71) by 187 runs at Lord’s.
Fittingly, it was Harris who wraps up the match and claimed his nine-wicket haul. And even more coincidentally, Chris Rushworth is last batsman to depart. Rushworth of course was the bowler who claimed 15 wickets in a day against Northamptonshire last season, including figures of 9-52.
12.22pm - Respite for Glamorgan at last. The hosts limped their way to three figures, and then rain brings play to a halt at the SWALEC.
26.2: Cook (4*) brings up his side's 100 with a cut four; Glamorgan 101-4; Wallace 2*, trail by 108 #GLAvDER
— Derbyshire CCC (@DerbyshireCCC) May 5, 2015
12.18pm - Somerset following the Durham example here! They've just gone six down for 36. All six of course falling today as Worcestershire were bowled out at the close yesterday. Peter Trego the latest to go, with Morris returning to have him caught by Sachitra Senanayake.
12.15pm - The ever-reliable Mark Footitt gets in on the action at the SWALEC, removing Colin Ingram to leave Glamorgan reeling.
35.4: #WICKET! Footitt gets Ingram caught behind by @HarveyHosein16 for 12; Glamorgan 95-4, trail by 110 #GLAvDERpic.twitter.com/QeqfVZrmsL
— Derbyshire CCC (@DerbyshireCCC) May 5, 2015
12.13pm - Besides Middlesex, another team that can force the win today are Gloucestershire and they look on course. Essex lose their seventh wicket with a lead of just 67 as Graham Napier departs for four off the bowling of Craig Miles. The Norwell show is taking a deserved breather.
12.10pm - Kent are motoring along well against Leicestershire at 212 for three. Northeast has struck nine fours in his innings so far.
12.07pm - ecb.co.uk's Andy Wilson at Middlesex (463 & 89) v Durham (294 & 53/9): Now an eighth for Harris, as John Hastings is trapped bang in front. Durham are 53 for nine, and in danger of their lowest ever first-class total.
12.06pm - Derbyshire are fighting away against Glamorgan at the SWALEC after that earlier rain delay.
33.0: #WICKET! Bragg caught behind off @yozza18 in the first over for 14; Glamorgan 89-3, trail by 116 #GLAvDERpic.twitter.com/2lsUGuVIBd

12pm - Oh no! Harris will be denied a historic 10-wicket haul for the innings as Finn picks up wicket number eight of Durham. Usman Arshad is caught by Sam Robson for seven. Two more for the win!

11.57am - Amid the chaos of wickets, the calm of a rain delay could be broken soon enough for Northants and Lancashire.
UPADTE: Umpires confirm play will start at 1:00 if there is no further rain. #NHANTSVLANCS
— Northants Cricket (@NorthantsCCC) May 5, 2015
11.54am - ecb.co.uk's Andy Wilson at Middlesex (463 & 89) v Durham (294 & 47/7): Just popped across from the ECB office at Lord’s to see the possibility of something historic. James Harris is running in from the Nursery End having taken all seven wickets to fall so far in this Durham second innings, so he needs three more to join the select bunch to have claimed all 10 in a first-class innings. Steven Finn is the man who could deny him from the Pavilion End!
11.50am - Essex lose a sixth wicket at Chelmsford. Batsmen going down across the grounds faster than I can type!
WICKET! Greg Smith is bowled by Liam Norwell for 12, two stumps knocked out. 127 for 6. Kishen Velani 27. #EssvGlo
— Essex Cricket (@EssexCricket) May 5, 2015
11.47am - A fourth wicket falls for Somerset, as Joe Leach provides variety in the bowling card by, well, bowling Jim Allenby for one - 17 for four and Somerset are traling Worcestershire by 135
OUT! Allenby is bowled by Leach for 1 and we are 17 for 4 in the 10th over. Hildreth & Barrow are at the crease. #WORvSOM
— Somerset Cricket (@SomersetCCC) May 5, 2015
11.45am - Fair to say these have been Harris' best bowling figures for an innings. His previous innings best came back in 2007 where he took 7-66 for Glamorgan as a 17-year-old.
11.41am - Somerset are reduced to 16 for three after Tom Cooper is bowled by Worcestershire's Morris. Much like Harris, Morris has also claimed all of the Somerset wickets today.
11.38am - He may have survived the hat-trick ball but it's not a long stay for Mustard, who is Harris' latest victim - 39 for seven in scarcely believable scenes at Lord's.
Defeat looms. Harris now has 7-19 after Mustard edged a drive to second slip and Borthwick edged to first slip. It's 39-7. #MIDvDUR
— Durham Cricket Club (@DurhamCricket) May 5, 2015
11.35am - Sam Northeast keeps the runs flowing for Kent. He moves to 50 with Kent on 176 for three.
11.32am - So despite rain affecting some games, there's plenty of action among the teams who took to the field. Could be a result either way at Lord's at the rate things are going.
11.29am - Phil Mustard survives the hat-trick ball at Lord's. But it's wickets elsewhere.
OUT! Myburgh is the second victim to fall caught Cox, bowled Morris for 6 and we are 13 for 2 in the 5th over. #WORvSOM
— Somerset Cricket (@SomersetCCC) May 5, 2015
11.20am - Durham may well have wished for a rain delay of their own, as a fourth wicket falls in the run chase. Calum MacLeod the latest to go and (surprise, surprise) Harris the wicket-taker and he then bowls Paul Collingwood to get on a hat-trick ball as well!
Meanwhile, it's also getting worse for Essex, who have lost wicket number five. The lead is a mere 13 over Gloucestershire, for whom Liam Norwell picks up a fourth scalp - 99 for five.
11.17am - Not long into the official morning session and news is coming in that the umpires at the County Ground will conduct an inspection after taking an early lunch at 12pm. No play yet of course today between Northants and Lancashire.
11.15am - Glamorgan's hopes of having an early bat get a boost.
DELAYED START: umpires inspection due at 11.35am @SWALECstadium#GLAvDER#countycricketlive
— Glamorgan Cricket (@GlamCricket) May 5, 2015
11.12am - And it's trouble brewing for Durham who have lost their third wicket now. James Harris again doing the damage for Middlesex as he bowls Michael Richardson for 10.
Richardson has gone for 10, shouldering arms to one from Harris which shot through to splatter off and middle. That's 30-3.#MIDvDUR

11.06am - Brisk at New Road where Somerset's second innings has got off to the worst possible start. Marcus Trescothick has just been bowled by Charlie Morris for a two-ball duck. The visitors trail by 152.
11.04am - Updates coming through from other grounds now. Start has been delayed to 11.15am at Kent, while the rain has stopped at the SWALEC and covers are coming off. Inspection underway.
10.59am - Huzzaah! Play shall indeed start on time at Chelmsford, with the umpires out in the middle. Gloucestershire will be hoping to clean up the hosts early.
Play starts on time, umpires making their way to the middle. #EssvGlo

10.54am - The covers remain on at the County Ground, while there is also news that there is a bit of rain in the air at Chelmsford where Essex are playing Gloucestershire. Essex of course are ahead by just five runs and have six wickets left.
10.50am - Not very good news from the County Ground, where Prince's hopes of building on his century will perhaps be slightly soured.
Start of play has been delayed due to a wet outfield. Umpires confirm regular inspections will be taken. More updates to come.#NHANTSVLANCS

10.46am - As teams fight on against the elements, here is a lovely tribute from ecb.co.uk's Andy Wilson after the sad news of the passing of Lancashire groundsman Pete Marron. The legacy of Marron will be on hand to guide those helping to get play possible today at the grounds!
10.33am - News is filtering in from other parts of the country. Kent are reporting sunshine and an on-time start. Meanwhile, the groundstaff at Lord's are hoping to keep the outfield flag-free.

It's looking a bit wet in some parts though, with the start delayed at the SWALEC Stadium, where Glamorgan are playing Derbyshire. Also potentially affected is Northamptonshire's match against Lancashire.

As we await good news on all fronts, let's have a look at the state of play across the grounds.
Eighteen wickets fell at Lord's as high-flying Durham skittled Middlesex out for just 89 with Chris Rushworth and John Hastings doing all the damage with a five-for apiece. The visitors ended the day two down, though, and need another 235 if they are to achieve a victory which could send them top.
Ben Cox's career-best 109 and Joe Leach's 95 paved the way for Worcestershire to post 402 all out in reply to Somerset's 250 at New Road.
Ashwell Prince's 12th century for Lancashire helped them rally against Northamptonshire, who had earlier accrued 385. South African Prince will return tomorrow, with his side 216 for four.
The lead for Essex against Gloucestershire is a mere five runs after Liam Norwell removed all of the top three as Essex closed on 91 for four in their second innings.
Derbyshire hold a 121-run advantage over Glamorgan heading into day three in Cardiff. Shiv Thakor dismissed both of the hosts' openers in their 84 for two.
Kent's Joe Denly recorded a patient half-century as they ended day two on 155 for three, still 231 runs behind winless Leicestershire.
