Only 18 overs were bowled on day three of the LV= County Championship match between Durham and Middlesex.

The Emirates Durham ICG hosts, who resumed on 37 without loss in their second innings, progressed to 89 for one and a lead of 152.

Play did not begin until 4:15pm and only five overs were possible before another delay was brought about by rain.

A further 13 overs were possible in the evening session prior to play being abandoned due to bad light.

Middlesex’s only wicket arrived when Mark Stoneman fell lbw to James Harris for 50. The bowler appeared to stifle his lbw appeal, but umpire George Sharp has already raised the finger.

Harris went close to bowling Keaton Jennings for 16 with a ball which moved sharply into the left-hander and passed just over his off stump.

The former South Africa Under-19 captain looked otherwise untroubled in reaching 28 not out, while Scott Borthwick moved to 11.
