A sensational catch from Chris Jordan brought an end to Shivnarine Chanderpaul and Jermaine Blackwood's 45-run stand after James Anderson left West Indies in trouble on the second day of the third and final Test at the Kensington Oval.
After England were dismissed for 257, Anderson had Kraigg Brathwaite and Shai Hope caught in the slips before fooling Marlon Samuels, failing to play a shot, with an inswinger that trapped him lbw.
He boasted figures of 6-4-4-3, including three wicket-maidens, from his first spell.
Things got worse for the Windies when, three balls after the resumption, Darren Bravo edged Moeen Ali to Jordan, who then helped Root dismiss Chanderpaul.
Jordan, despite starting to move to his left, sprung back to his right to take a one-handed diving catch.
Looking to extend their overnight 240 for seven, England lost their last three wickets for 17 runs to Jerome Taylor, whose figures this morning read 3.3-1-3-3.
The paceman had Jordan caught down the leg side by a diving Denesh Ramdin, with a review failing to save the batsman, before bowling Stuart Broad, who he worked over with the short ball, and Anderson in consecutive deliveries.

Afternoon session
6.36pm - Jordan is also keeping things tight with the ball, conceding his first run from the final ball of his fourth over.
6.31pm - WICKET! Chanderpaul c Jordan b Root 25; WI 82/5 - WOW! What an amazing catch from Jordan, better than his snaffle in Antigua. Chanderpaul edges Root and Jordan, despite starting to move to his left, springs back to his right to take a one-handed diving catch. The stand ends on 45.
6.22pm - CHANCE! - Joe Root, replacing Moeen, starts from round the wicket and almost makes an instact impact. Ian Bell cannot hold on at leg slip, though. Blackwood gets a life on 27.
6.16pm - Anderson fails to fire in his second spell and is replaced by Jordan. The Barbados-born all-rounder should know how to operate on this ground having played here as a youngster. At the other end, Moeen looks to have lost his rhythm and more short balls are punished, by Chanderpaul and then Blackwood.
6.07pm - Blackwood is punishing any bad deliveries at the moment. He pounces on three short Moeen balls, hitting one maximum and two fours to race to 22.
Jimmy's enjoying running in with the light breeze behind him. Moeen bowling nicely from the other end. #WIvEngpic.twitter.com/As5j3lFdun

6pm - James Anderson delivers not one but two poor deliveries and Jermaine Blackwood cashes in, flicking him for four on both occasions in one over. This situation is pefect for his partner, Shivnarine Chanderpaul.
5.45pm - WICKET! Bravo c Jordan b Moeen 9; WI 37/4 - An excellent start to the afternoon session for England as Moeen Ali has Darren Bravo caught at slip by Chris Jordan.
Morning session
5pm - LUNCH! WI 37/3 ; Bravo 9, Chanderpaul 9 - Shivnarine Chanderpaul and Bravo survive to lunch. They were helped by two disappointing overs from Joe Root, who conceded 10. Anderson was outstanding with the new ball, though, recording figures of 6-4-4-3. England will be really happy with the way they responded to Taylor's early burst. Six wickets in a hectic session.
4.54pm - Broad is given a rest after a five-over spell, with Moeen Ali taking over. The off-spinner spoke of his excitement of bowling on this surface last night. Let's see what he has got. Bravo, shouldering arms, is hit on the pad but England opt not to review after an appeal is turned down.
That just highlights @jimmy9 class. And the importance of exposing the middle order to a newish ball. #don 'twatchhiseyesmarlon

4.40pm - WICKET! Samuels lbw Anderson 9; WI 21/3 - Samuels fails to read an Anderson inswinger and is smacked on the pads after not offering a shot. A review fails to save the number three. It was plumb. The Lancastrian's third wicket-maiden.
4.35pm - Broad responds to Samuels cracking him through the covers for the second time in as many overs by beating his outside edge next ball.
4.30pm - Samuels, on the back foot, relieves some pressure by crashing Broad through the covers for four, an over before Bravo clips Anderson through midwicket for a couple.
4.25pm - CHANCE! - Bravo is living a charmed life here. Again he edges Broad and again he gets away with it, the ball flashing past a diving Jordan in the cordon.
4.20pm - WICKET! Hope c Cook b Anderson 5; WI 5/2 - Cook makes up for his drop in the previous over by holding on to a low catch close to the ground to dismiss Hope. The decision goes upstairs but replays show Cook just got his fingers underneath the ball. Anderson has two!
4.13pm - CHANCE! - Darren Bravo, playing away from his body, edges Broad to Cook at first slip but the skipper puts it down.
4.05pm - Test debutant Shai Hope, playing on his home ground, edges his first ball through the slips for four, Broad the unlucky bowler.
3.57pm - WICKET! Brathwaite c Jordan b Anderson 0; WI 0/1 - Anderson strikes second ball, dismissing Kraigg Brathwaite for the third consecutive innings. The right-hander, batting on his home ground, edges an awayswinger to Jordan in the slip cordon.
3.43pm - WICKET! Anderson b Taylor 0; Eng 257 all out; Buttler 3 - Taylor will be on a hat-trick in the second innings as he beats the defences of James Anderson first ball. That was the paceman's third dismissal this morning. His figures read 3.3-1-3-3. A fine effort from the hosts to restrict England to 257 after losing the toss.
3.42pm - WICKET! Broad b Taylor 10; Eng 257/9 - Taylor wins his battle with Broad, working him over with the short stuff before demolishing his stumps. West Indies have come out firing this morning.
3.40pm - Gabriel over-pitches to Broad and the batsman carts him through the covers for four to take England past 250. He finds a second boundary in the over, cleverly steering a short delivery over the slip cordon.
3.32pm - Taylor delivers a brilliant over to keep the pressure on England. He tests Stuart Broad with the short ball and after the left-hander collects a single into the leg side, beats Buttler's outside edge with a beauty.
3.20pm - WICKET! Jordan c Ramdin b Gabriel 3; Eng 247/8 - Taylor produces a beauty to beat Jordan's outside edge. The paceman then sends one down leg again and Jordan tickles behind to a diving Ramdin. The right-hander reviews unsuccessfully.
3.10pm - Taylor strays down leg in his opening over, Jos Buttler failing to take advantage by missing two consecutive deliveries, before Shannon Gabriel takes over from Samuels.
3.03pm - Marlon Samuels finishes his over from last night, when he dismissed Alastair Cook from the second ball, with Chris Jordan picking up a couple through cover. Jerome Taylor is operating at the other end.
Pre-play news
2.55pm - Jordan will bat on the ground where he grew up playing as a youngster for the first time in Test match cricket in around five minutes time. Early wickets are on the menu for West Indies.
2.45pm - Moeen Ali spent time in the middle with Cook yesterday, sharing a fifth-wicket stand of 98, and he paid tribute to his captain's innings in the video below.
2.35pm - England will be hoping Jos Buttler and Chris Jordan can lift their side towards 300 after centurion Alastair Cook's dismissal from what proved to be the final ball of the day left the tourists 240 for seven.
2.30pm - Hello and welcome to live coverage of the second day of the third and final Test between West Indies and England at the Kensington Oval in Barbados.
