Georgia Elwiss starred with bat and ball as the tourists made it three wins from three over Sri Lanka A to end the England women spin camp in Colombo on a high.

Two Elwiss wickets and three for the in-form Dani Wyatt restricted the hosts to 183 all out in 48.4 overs.

Elwiss and Katherine Brunt, batting higher than they normally would for the full England side, smoothly made 66 not out and 45 respectively as victory came with six wickets and more than five overs to spare.

Wyatt, who was unbeaten on 12 after making two consecutive fifties in the other games, told ecb.co.uk: “Katherine and Georgia batted really well today, seeing us to victory.”

Experienced seamer Brunt was the most economical of the bowlers with figures of 4-2-4-1.

Also impressive was 15-year-old Sophie Ecclestone, whose six overs yielded 1-17.

Wyatt, who returned 3-27 while Elwiss took 2-31, said: “Everyone who got a chance to bowl today did really well. I was really impressed by Sophie Ecclestone. She did brilliantly.”

Not only has Wyatt gained further experience of sub-continental conditions, the Nottinghamshire all-rounder has boosted her cause ahead of this summer’s Ashes series.

“I really enjoy playing out here. It’s the third time I’ve been to Sri Lanka,” she said.

“I’m happy with the way everything is going at the moment and am looking forward to the women’s county season.”
