Moises Henriqueshas become the latest international star to sign up for this season’s NatWest T20 Blast, with the Australia all-rounder joining Surrey.
The 28-year-old joins Sri Lanka’s Kumar Sangakkara and former Pakistan international Azhar Mahmood as the club target a third consecutive appearance at finals day.
Henriques, who captains Sydney Sixers in the Big Bash League and New South Wales Blues, has represented his country across all formats and played four seasons in the Indian Premier League.
The right-arm seamer will join Surrey following the completion of his IPL commitments and remain throughout the competition – also providing cover for Sangakkara in other formats when the Sri Lankan leaves to represent his country later in the summer. Should Surrey make it to the knockout stages, he will be available for both the quarter-final and finals day.
Henriques, a runner-up in this winter's Big Bash, said: “I’m really looking forward to playing for Surrey this season; it’s a club with a proud history and an exciting squad and I hope to play my part in achieving success this summer.
“I’ve seen some of the names that are coming to England to be involved in the NatWest T20 Blast this summer, so am looking forward to testing myself against some of the best players in the world.”
Surrey’s director of cricket Alec Stewart added: “Moises is a fine all-round cricketer and will add great depth to our squad. We look forward to welcoming him to the Kia Oval next month.”
